No flame war likely re Amsoil. I've had good performance from it, from Red Line, Mobil 1, Castrol Syntec, and have heard from people that swear that high-performance engines can't survive without Motul. I believe in synthetics, and think there are quite a number of good ones. I get a significant discount being an Amsoil commercial customer, which is just a matter of signing up.

One of the things I like about AMSOIL is that it's very easy to order. Frankly, I try to count my time as worth something (to me anyway) and it's very simple to jump on their web site and order a couple cases of something. If I were using a lot...I'd probably do more research. As to the quality, I doubt I could ever tell the difference between any of the top brands. I just don't use or stress the tractor enough. I mostly spend the extra money for synthetics as insurance. I should probably just buy the Walmart brand. I'm sure it would be good enough.

I think the key to oil and grease is frequency. As in change and lube frequency. In that spirit, I'm looking around for one of those Jasco electric oil changing buckets that you see boaters use. Should make the job a little less messy.
