Yeah. Put a lot of lawn care folks in a real tough position. Making the lawns look purdy was a big chunk of their business. He stole that from them, only green stuff can be used now.

I think some true pesticides need to be restricted... too toxic.. but Glyphosate? you can drink the stuff.

Well, a few decades ago there was a huge kerfuffle over PCBs, which were (and probably still are) the most efficient heat transfer oil for transformers. They were branded as carcinogens although others claimed you could take a bath in the stuff. I played with mercury when I was a kid with no ill effects, but now if spill any in the workplace you're supposed to call in a hazmat team at a cost of hundreds of thousands of dollars. They're spending many times the original cost of buildings to remove asbestos that been there for a hundred years and is never likely to be exposed for hundreds of more years. Was DDT really dangerous, or was its banning a way to replace it with more expensive, less effective chemicals at great profit? Same with 2,4D.

Today the hazmat industry is huge and extremely profitable. Everybody is afraid of anything that might be toxic. Politicians are all jumping on the "green" bandwagon no matter what it will cost the consumer and taxpayer because it's warm and fuzzy and nobody dares challenge them.

Well said Oldyellr. Some things are truly toxic and need to be restricted, but many things just arent that bad and can be used with caution. Mercury in CFL's for example.

The Canadian govt doesn't allow Round-up in concentrate form.....searously.

It a pretty benign herbicide. I can buy roundup, tor-don, heck most anything in concentrate form here as long as i only use it on my own property. I think your going to have to make a trip to the USA and stock up.

I know now in Wash state, you have to sign a log book when buying Hy-Dep, and they limit you to 5 gal concentrate per household per year. So they come to Idaho and buy it in bulk.

Wash state even banned phosphates in laundry soap and dishwasher soap. It took years, but Idaho finally caved into that ripoff also. Now i have a dishwasher that doesn't clean unless they are clean first off (why bother) and dirty clothes. But the farmers can still flood their fields in phosphorous ....... weird how they rationalize their stupid laws.

Well, it sounds like Dalton thinks I'm not sufficiently skilled to use Roundup safely. So I guess I need a "hook up" then. Who in Southern Ontario can still buy glyphosate and sell me some concentrate?

Or maybe I shouldn't ask that in an open forum!

Well, since I'm sticking my neck out, I'd take some 2,4D too. And maybe even some Agent Orange if you've got it.
