When a new Pope is elected, they send up white smoke. When the drain plug comes out, I think Kando should tip up some pallets in his field.

Boats were mentioned above, the boat we had was equipped with a fitting in place of oil plug that had a small pipe attached to it that went up beside the engine. It had a cap on it that was removed when it was time to change the oil, just sucked it right out, pulling from the normal drain in pan, so it got everything out that pulling the plug would have.. of course there are many different systems in place.

Like go to town and get a replacement drain plug, hit the old one with a propane torch after wipedown, and then put a pipe wrench of suitable size on it and turn the correct direction to back the plug out and be done with it?
Something like that?

I agree. With heat applied to the plug grip would not be as critical.
