After reading a few threads on row hillers and row hippers I figured I should pick one up and give it a try. They don't seem to be very popular in these parts but I did find this small disk which I think can be converted into a hipper. What do you guys think?

Agri-supply's got the hiller disks and shanks that should bolt right on there.

I've never seen one in my neck of the woods, either. Are you going to use the notched discs as the hippers? Cut them down? Should work. Go for it. Mark

The row hipper Stevens Tractor sells has notched discs as well. I pick it up and see how it works.

I'd like to see pictures when you get done. I've got an old JD drag disc that will make a good hipper. Just need some more ideas to steal.....er....ahh....I mean look at :D . I think the discs may be too big on it though, it looks like the hipper discs are smaller. Is this to keep the hills from being too tall, or ditching too deep on either side of the hill? Mark

I bought a set of hillers at Agri Supply today. I've been restoring (for use) an old cultivator frame of my wife's grandfather's for the last couple of weeks. I had all the shanks and sweeps, but no hillers. I put it all together today and set up my rows for my garden. It worked great.

And the pictures are where?

There are two reasons for pictures here on TBN.

1) they say here at TBN that it didn't happen if there ain't pics.

2) someone like me loves to steal/use/borrow other peoples ingenuity.

:) :) :)

Here you go. Like I said, it's a very old cultivator. It actually had an old hay rake attached to it when my father in law gave it to me. He had all the shanks and sweeps. I replaced every bolt that I could either unscrew or grind off. It's pretty sturdy now.

I put the hillers on yesterday and put in a couple of rows in the garden. It worked pretty good, but I've got to make a few adjustments to get it right.

I can't seem to get the pics to show up, so I'll just post the links.
