Maybe in the future rox, you could find another way to distribute without all of Amazon's costs and rules.

Maybe someone online here could help in that matter.

You know you have given me a good idea I have never thought of.
I am shipping to a fulfillment warehouse in Ohio, they do well... fulfillment.
I don't have to sell only on Amazon I could create a web page and sell direct as well.
I had never really thought of that before.
The only thing is, the orders would be shipped out of Cleveland Ohio so it would not get to you fast, Amazon gets the orders delivered fast. And if you are an Amazon Prime Member, which most of my Amazon customers are Prime members, you don't pay shipping. If shipped out of Cleveland I would have to add shipping costs.
Maybe I should check into this. My gut tells me the best cost savings to my customers would be in the 1L and 2L sizes. Actually the best savings would probably be on the 2L size. Selling direct having the Cleveland warehouse do the picking and shipping my guess is that I could lower the price on 2L sizes by around $10. On 1L I might be able (and again shooting from the hip here) to reduce the price by $5. I don't think there would be much savings at 0.25L and 0.50L sizes, maybe $3 or $4?

Yes, but all that shipping and convenience is not free. You know what they say, "there ain't no free lunch".

You would have to add up all the additional costs, and percentages that Amazon is making you/us pay, and see how they compare to just shipping to Ohio and then shipping out from there.

I know the Aglandau is your favorite but I urge you to try the Grossane and the Basil olive oil as well. Just try them. The Grossane (and I didn't send that much of it) is so so so good. Only use it cold, pour it straight over sliced tomatoes or tomatoe wedges. I know you like Aglandau but just try a little bit of the Grossane once. Out of all the olive oils we produce the one with the lowest yield is the Grossane. It takes about 15 kilo of olives to make a liter of Grossane, Aglandau and Salonenque takes 6 1/2 to 7 1/2 kilos to make one liter of olvie oil, so always the Grossane and the Bouteillan another low yielding olive, is going to cost more because the yield of the olive is very low, but what great olive oil. And the Basil we sent, I hope you try that too. The basil is going to blow your socks off, promise, i would not lie to you.
...

We will be buying at least one container of each oil. Assuming we can order before they sell out!:laughing::laughing::laughing:

Ate a couple of spoonfuls of EVOO they other night. :licking::licking::licking: Just the oil.:laughing::laughing::laughing:

Later,
Dan

Yep. Rox would also have to include the cost and hassle of running a retail website to sell direct.

While second day shipping for "free" is nice, we have been waiting for months to get the last seasons EVOO so waiting a few days for the order to arrive really does not matter. :D

Everybody, please keep your fingers crossed. the ship was scheduled to arrive in Norfolk Virginia today.
I'll find out tomorrow a status update.
It has to clear US Customs, but I have an excellent Customs Broker so if any problems (I hope there are none) she will handle it. All my paper work is in order and all my inventory sent is as stated on my documents so IF I do get held up by US Customs I know I will pass any inspection.

Other good news, I had a nice tour group in yesterday, really nice ppl, retired French ppl all aound mid 60's through early 70's, they were such really very nice people. I had them here for a 3 hour tour. One thing I learned long ago when you have big groups like this it is going to take time becasue a lot of people ask questions so give everybody a chair. People enjoy it so much more if they can sit down. I place the chairs inside the moulin (mill) facing out the overhead door looking at the olive fields. I bring out the equipment we use, the nets and the power shakers and demonstrate how it is used. I like to give a good tour. Then when done with that I go through each piece of equipment in the moulin showing the process of extracting and filtering the oil. Then finally I ask everybody to pick up thier chair and we go into the bottling and tasting room.

I came up with a very good way of charging for the tours. I charge 5 Euros a person, but if you buy olive oil I reduce the price by 5 Euros. Basically if you buy olive oil the tour is free, if you don't buy olive oil it was 5 Euros for 3 hours of my time. Only 4 people did not buy olive oil, the rest did and we sold just over 500 Euros in olive oil yesterday. Since the weather warmed up we have been getting a very good business selling direct from the farm. Many people dropping at least 100 euros and it isn't even May yet! Well in a few days it will be May. We always have strong sales in May. It feels good to have some money coming in. :) Oh I almsot forgot, we got a customer who was on vacation and bought our olive oil, and he just placed a 600 Euro order, we are saving it for him for when he comes again in June. But Nico asked him to send his check now as his order is all 5L containers and we don't want to hold it and what if he doesn't show up. He was glad to mail the check.

Boy I won't sleep tonight thinking of that ship coming into Norfolk.

thanks for the update Rox. Someday, you will have enough local customers so that you don't have to bother with pesky shipments. :)
