Here's me in my Roy Rogers & Dale Evans shirt that Sharn Jean made for me some time back. Roy was my hero when I was a kid, always admired him.

I wore it to the doctor's office recently, and nobody knew who they were! I knew I was getting old, but didn't think I was that old!

I am a wee bit surprised at your photo - I imagined you as being younger and somewhat more conservative. I would never wear a shirt like that - even in private, nor a pink one!

I do remember Roy Rogers though, and Trigger, in Saturday afternoon films, but cannot recall ever hearing about his wife until later in life.

Have to admit I always saw John Wayne as my western hero, and I longed for the day when Jack Palance would survive to the end of the film. That did eventually happen.

Happy Trails...!

Rex Allen was my favorite. And I often preferred the "sidekicks" to the star.

I met Andy Devine when I was 4-6, before ever seeing a movie. I was just told he was a movie cowboy.

You look dapper! I'm glad no one got a picture of me at the doctor's office. I was in for a stress-test and had my frumpy jersey pants and a work T-shirt. I was carrying my lunch bag with my wallet, phone, water and snack you had to eat after the test. I must have looked like some homeless guy. They inject some kind of nuclear waste into you so they can X-Ray the heart before and after the test. They said to stay away from babies and young children for at least two days. I think I was glowing in the dark. 😵‍💫

To my reciliation Roy never killed a bad guy but it's a miracle he didn't accidently kill any considering all those trick shots he made.

I'll stick with Matt Dillon.

The Roy Rogers show was a Saturday morning staple...After watching the test pattern and waiting for the jets to fly over...
...The first show was 'Red Ryder' (had a young Robert Blake as Little Beaver)...Then Tarzan...then Roy Rogers...

Roy was my first cowboy favorite....He was on at a time when I could watch. Matt Dillon, Paladin, Bat Masterson, Wyatt Earp were on too late for me. A few years later the Rifleman, Chuck Conners....

Roy was one of my favorite heroes also. I rode a beautiful Palomino like Trigger in the Mardi Gras parades and was usually the lead horse in the group because of her looks and had to wear a white hat and clothes like Roy and even though I didn't resemble him much, it always made me feel great when some young kid would say to his mother "look mom, it's Roy Rogers.
I don't know if my grandson even knows who Roy was.

When I was little, the kid across the street always wanted to play Roy Rogers. I always had to be the bad guy. Well, Roy always beat up the bad guys. I had enough of that pretty fast. I'm pretty sure I broke his nose after about the 3rd day. He ran home and got his mom. She asked why I did it and I told her he'd hit me about a hundred times over the last few days, wouldn't ever let me be Roy, and I was tired of it....

We weren't allowed to play Roy Rogers any more after that day. ;)

I am very conservative; however I am very casual in my dress. I look a bit haggard and frumpy; I'm going through a series of chemo and radiation treatments.

My grandfather got a Shetland Pony, for some reason. I think he wanted to show us, as very young children, how to control a horse to pull a cart. When he was a young child, they would ride a horse drawn carriage. He wanted to recreate that experience for us. This pony was named Trigger. It was the nastiest, meanest, most stubborn and frankly, a dangerous animal to have around. It would walk up to you and then rear kick you in the gut for no reason, then turn around and try to bite you. You couldn't even field this pony with any other live stock. It would attack them like some sort of mad rottweiler pony. Trigger eventually went the glue farm with no tears shed. :)

As a kid, I liked the stars. Today, the side kicks are my favorites.

I had a double gun belt just like Roys...I'm pretty sure it was a branded toy set...I think they were actually cap guns...
...All I remember about them was when you strapped them on you felt empowered...!
We had branded mugs, cereal bowls and lunch boxes etc. from all the old western shows etc...

No one mentioned Hopalong Cassidy and his horse Topper with sidekick California?

Everytime I hear Roy Rogers I think of the male drink version of a Shirley Temple.

My young nieces... all under 10 were in a wedding... at the reception there was an open bar and all the adults were having a good time and the girls were kind of on the sidelines.

I mosey up to the bar and order 3 Shirley Temples and the bar tender said we have hard drinks... to which I said even for bridesmaids under 10. (Of course Hoppy would have ordered Sarsaparilla)

Those girls had so much fun and became really sophisticated young ladies... umbrella in the drink of course.

Yes... they would know Roy Rogers and his third wife Dale from the Black and Gray VHS tapes I have...

Happy Trails to You!

Roy Rogers and Dale Evans were the very best. But as a youngster I was even more of a Gene Autry fan. I'm sure that was the result of a relative who knew him when they were kids AND the fact that I used to show hogs (from the time I was 10 years old) at the county fair where the rodeo coliseum was named the Gene Autry Coliseum. In later years they renamed it to the Hardy Murphy Coliseum.
