When I was little, the kid across the street always wanted to play Roy Rogers. I always had to be the bad guy. Well, Roy always beat up the bad guys. I had enough of that pretty fast. I'm pretty sure I broke his nose after about the 3rd day. He ran home and got his mom. She asked why I did it and I told her he'd hit me about a hundred times over the last few days, wouldn't ever let me be Roy, and I was tired of it....

We weren't allowed to play Roy Rogers any more after that day.

I wore it to the doctor's office recently, and nobody knew who they were! I knew I was getting old, but didn't think I was that old!

We're still getting Roy Rogers movies on TV. Although they're still 'hokey', we still enjoy them. I recently read an article about him and his attempt to earn money. Sadly his final landmark in Branson, MO closed up due to lack of income. Mr. Slye (RR) tried many different businesses but none ever made him rich.
Roy Rogers was sometimes known as the King of Cowboys, in my mind none will replace my all time favorite John Wayne.
By the way - your shirt is probably a collector's item, as are your fleet of cars. Nice going!!!

The IRS guidelines states that an outside appraisal is required and is based on fair market value at the time of the filing. The person who wrote this article is clueless.

He's from Ohio...

One of my favorite films, and I love the fact that he was a carpenter to "the stars" in Hollywood for a number of years before breaking out in that film. He's a believable carpenter, because he is/was a carpenter.

My wife said she used to close her eyes or run out of the room to keep from seeing Dale kiss her boy Roy.

I would recognize those 2 anywhere. I grew up on roy rogers. Trigger is stuffed and on display in the RR museum not 60 miles from here.
God bless all those wonderful shows and times. I am so glad I finally got to be a cowboy after watching and dreaming on/about early Saturday AM TV.

Roy Rogers and Dale Evans were the very best. But as a youngster I was even more of a Gene Autry fan. I'm sure that was the result of a relative who knew him when they were kids AND the fact that I used to show hogs (from the time I was 10 years old) at the county fair where the rodeo coliseum was named the Gene Autry Coliseum. In later years they renamed it to the Hardy Murphy Coliseum.

One of the first people I ever had to supervise at the newspaper was a woman that was in her early 70's. She was a secretary for Gene Autry in her younger days. She said he was great to work for. And, she got to meet many movie stars and celebrities over the years. She'd just light up when talking about working for him.
