RR Ties - good price?

Seems like I'm always seeing them in the classifieds for next to nothing. We used to get loads of them for free for our homecoming bonfire in college.

You'd think a bunch of engineers would be smart enough not to burn railroad ties, but we weren't.

anyone know where in connecticut ya can find railroad ties, i asked at the local railyard and was told they cant sell them or give them away cause they are considered hazardous waste due to creasote, of course that coulda been the bs answer to get me to go away who knows. i just want a couple of them to drive my dozer up onto when i need to get under it to work on it.

Try a scrap iron dealer, they may ties as well as metal.
