RTV 500 or Mule 610?

Lee- thanks.. I like the smaller RTV just because of where we go and use it so I guess I will have to live with the no leg room. My wife had knee surgery a few years ago and it really bothers her to get in the 610..I wish they took 4 inches out of the bed and use it in the leg room dept.. I am going to try and look at one next week but my close dealer is out of them so I might have to wait to seat in one...

Dog-sounds like better power than what I have in the 610, which is a good thing.. I still think the 610 needs about 25% more power!!!

I went through the same process for a about a year;

I found the two comparable and I was in a neck n neck stalemate until Kubota came out with 0% interest for 5 years, DEAL!

If speed is what you want, look elsewhere, if pulling or pushing power and
you drive like a middle-aged man, the RTV will work fine.

The RTV can't whip around obstacles like my ATV but it pulls my high-lead cable just fine and skids logs easily on the trails. Xfer locked and in 4X4, it is like a tank/dozer.

As far as ergomics; I am built like a fire-plug with "R-50 insulation" so I fit in the RTV just fine. I love it but.......

I still wish I had a tractor; one of those New Holland "Boomers".......

Two main reasons I bought the RTV500 - small and maneuverable and Kubota's 0% interest. I wasn't worried about speed and hot roding, I wanted a good hard working machine. The mule would be a good buy no doubt but the RTV's framing is WELL built. If you can get the traction, the RTV will climb a wall, its just not a fast machine. I have really long steep hills around my place and in order for me to buy it I had make sure it climbed them. Dealer let me demo the unit for a weekend and it did what I needed it to do.

I am seriously looking at selling my Mule 610 and moving to the RTV500. I don稚 want the speed but the power.. It sounds like the 2 cylinder Kubota puts a lot more power down than the single cylinder Kawasaki does. I really would like to know the difference between the two in the leg room department? I don稚 know what a Kubota is going for but looks like around $7500 for the stripped orange one.. I think I can get $4000 for mine with 350 hrs winch and spray in bedliner? Might just find out if this spring..:D
What a good price for a RTV500??

The best I've seen up here is $7990 for a stripped orange one. I think it depends where you're at and if you want new or slightly used/demo models. When I bought mine they had a former rental machine that was 9 months old for $6900 but $1k off on a machine I'm sure had a rough start didn't seem like a good deal to me.

Thanks Dog- my dealer told me this morning he had one on the way.. :D so I at least get to look at one.. He said $7900.. So you are right on.. I really want to sit in one and see the difference between the two... Then I will see what I want to do..My wife likes and uses the thing as much as I do and the leg room is the selling factor for ME- I mean her.. We had a EZ-GO-- no no no power but lots of leg room..:confused2: So I need a combo with both..

Good luck, hope it's nice and easy for her to get in and out. I've been very happy with mine so far, it's been a year next month and I'm still very pleased with my purchase.

If you do decide to buy one I'd hit up the dealer to toss in the plastic canopy/roof as part of the deal....they charge way too much for them $200 +/- but it's one of the best add ons I've done to mine....it's nice to have and it's likely that they will toss it in at no extra charge to make the deal.

I just purchased a used RTV 900 (65 hours) 2006. When I saw it advertised for the price, I thought it was too high for a 5 year old machine then I found that it had hardly been broke in good. I called the local Kubota dealer and inquired about the cost for a 2011 model and he said $11,500 bare. After several emails with my seller and getting a complete list of all the add ons, the price went up considerably at the dealer for a new one. $14,500 was the quote. You can run up a lot of money in extras very quickly and not have much change in appearance. Mine has glass windshield $800 kubota option, spray in bed liner, plastic canopy, front mounted winch, grill guard and rear bumper which I didnt even see mentioned as a option at Kubota and I had to pay full asking price as the owner wouldnt negotiate. But when I saw the results, it was worth the price as it looked like new.
What I am saying is that there are good deals to be had on used ones that folks bought and used very little. Mine has had 4 oil changes already and will get the full 50 hour service package when I get home and it barely is past the break in hours. I would never have spent $14K on a new one, but I am glad I got this one now.
Since I never get good deals on anything, I am quiet proud of this one.

I got mine for $8750 with all the extras. These things are reported to be bullet prove so buying used is not a bad way to increase your investment if you find a low hour deal. Heck you may want to upgrade to an RTV 1100 with Cab, heat and AC if you can find someone willing to part with it.

I'd say you got a **** of a deal. Great looking 900.
