RTV 500 v-plow options

So you damaged the RTV frame?

Yes...I have a gravel drive so there are always some rock snags when plowing....my RTV had the plate where your mount hooks bent across the width of the frame (the bottom edge folded in) It's possible running less spring pressure could have also lessened the bending but I don't believe it would have eliminated it completely.

I have no idea how the frame could have been on the RTV500 unless it's the way the plow was mounted. I too have a gravel driveway and 1200# of gravel right of way in addition to 7 other gravel drives and I never bent anything on my RTV500 with the OEM plow, and I slammed the springs hard many times in addition to hitting piles ...Wonder if the aftermarket plows just have a different mounting that could cause this.

The Eagle plows have a mount that hooks to the front plate where your winch fairlead goes....you remove the 4 plugs and it bolts there as well as under the receiver hitch area.

These are the best pictures of the RTV mount I have

That would explain it..Mine mounted across the entire frame...

I remember seeing one with the factory plow that I think was yours.....the frame appeared to be really low on it or was that just push tubes? It looked like something you might need to take off in order to go offroad with because clearance under the plow wasn't really there.

I google searched and came up with this pic which I think was one you had posted way back ?????

In that picture the push tubes look to be under or at least in line with the lower A arms ???

Let me see if I have any clearer pictures..Actually we went off-roading (with the plow on, yes there was beer involved) through creek beds etc...No beaching of it whatsoever..Actually there was much more installed ground clearance on the 500 than there is on the 1100..That pic was during a 2.5 foot snow storm, so the ground clearance is deceiving.

Here's one that I found although not the best visual..You can see that the primary mount is across the frame...I believe a have a better pic somewhere. The forst one is the 500 the second one is the 1100..Both OEM's

In those pics it looks like the mount goes in the same location as the Eagle does..the front plate of the receiver hitch in the same holes that would hold on your brush guard and winch fairlead. Where else does it tie into the frame or is that it same as the aftermarket plows?

They don't independently hang below the frame..The A arms are distributed across the frame in totality...To be honest, the OEM on the 500 looked studier than the one on the 1100...The 1100 has a half circle that distributes the load across the frame from an upper and lower perspective. After 4 years of hammering it, I've bent nothing. No independent mounts.

The 500 had a far faster R and R than the subframe mount on the 1100..The 1100 is somewhat of a PITA, but I can see why.

The Eagle mount does the same....I think it may be lost in the few pictures I took of my RTV 500....the push frame is a solid piece that runs from one side of the frame to the other as a continuous piece....it is not 2 independent pieces.
