RTV Flat Tire Again!

Hay gang,
3 mo old RTV 900 and already had 3 flat tires. Have the Kubota ATV tires and wondering if anyone else is having this trouble. Have not run over anything that i can find other than possible tree branches. First 2 flats were front and rear at same time, and now rear again. All times looks like large puncture from ???? These tires are 6ply "rated" but sure seems easy to puncture. What is your all recommendations for a replacement tire. Mostly running over trails thru woods, and around planted fields.
Happy with tire traction and very happy with RTV, (65hr) but can't keep plugin tires.. Thanks for your opinion's

Put "Slime", or a similar product, in them. I've had great service with it.

Are those low pressure tires (8-12psi) that you are filling to 30 psi?

I went through several years of flat tires...used Slime, replaced valve stems...finally fixed the problem with new tires and wheels..

Put 75 hours on them now and still love the traction, ride, and how easy they are on soft ground. They run with 8 to 10 psi.

I have an RTV1140 with worksite tires and in almost a year nary a flat. I drive over rocks, thru the woods and even over grass and blacktop and still no flats.

Ragkar, These are the original tires that were supplied from my Kubota dealer. I believe they call them "ATV" tires. Made by OTR mfg. 440 Mag 25x11x12 6ply rating. The max pressure stated on the tire is 28# and i am running at 20#, as originally filled. Manufacture web site states 22#. Had questioned lowering to 15#, but no clear consensus. May try this when i get it repaired this time.
KitC, I read your post on new tires & rims before I posted this. Your tires look pretty much like mine, but one big difference is yours are 8 ply. Would certainly help. Hate the thought of putting $600 worth of tires on the thing and STILL getting flats... Do like your choice though, it looks close to how mine arrived.
As far as slimming them, I don't think it would work with as large a puncture as I have had, probably in the 1/4" range. I know it works good in my ZTR for thorns and such, but this is much larger hole.
JT, I'm impressed. Not sure how you make it over that grass and blacktop and not slice them tires to ribbons....:laughing: :laughing:
What about putting tube in them? Think it would be worth while? Or is anything that pokes thru the tire just going to poke the tube also? Anyone have any experience with tubes, good or bad?
Also wanted to ask if anyone can explain the tire SIZE to me? 25x11x12 nhs

Tubes will only result in having to break down the tire the next time you have a flat. I would not recommend tubes based on this fact. That's the beauty of tubeless in that most holes can be plugged without breaking the tire from the rim.

Well I still don't know about better tires, but I do know what the culprit was that did the poking.... I hate these things. Thought I had all of these removed, but seems like always one more to get ya! Sticking out of the ground about 2", and covered with leaves. Had been over this one many other times, and if the lug caught it, it was OK I guess, but if between the lugs, down she went. Guess there is always going to be something go get ya, but at least I know it wont be this one again. :laughing::laughing:
Thanks for the link on tire size. Didn't know how they were sized. Will know for when I do get new 8 ply tires.
