If you've driven a hydro tractor, which has a seperate throttle, than you'll understand why you would want one. I'm glad that you got info from someone with experience with it, as he has pretty much said what holds true. If the rtv is anything like the hydro tractors, ( and I'm assumeing they must be ) you want to keep your rpm's up a certain amount to let the fluid circulate enough throughout the hydro trans to lubricate it properly. You also answered your own question, by what you do for a living. Hydro transmisions may be of a little different design from one to another, but the concept is the same.
