We have about 180 hrs on our RTV. And it seems like its losing power. I know, "seems like" is a vague statement. It's just a perception. Things get old & the newness wears off, and you get used to the power & wish for more. But I'm pretty certain that it doesn't have as much oomph going up hills. Hills I was able to cruise up in M now require L. It doesn't completely bog down on these hills, but it sure does slow quite a bit if I get a running start. And even in L, it slows down. These are long, steady climbs on dirt roads. Nothing dramatic, really.

Anyone else think their RTV has lost some power? That just doesn't sound right. Machines, especialy diesels, are supposed to run better after break-in.

With HST drive machines oil flow is always a possible cause of power loss. Have y ou changed the HST oil and filters as perscribed? There are some adjustments that can be done to restore the power. Things can slip, wear and get pulled.

Ask your dealer and see if there is any fine tuning and do they know how to do the work.

I concur that an tranny fluid change may be in order. Stick with Super UDT.

Are you backing off the pedal to get the aux. pump going? I was driving mine wrong and was mashing the pedal to the floor. Once I learned to back off the pedal, I can actually go in M instead of L range.

You might check the spark arrester on the end of the tail pipe. If the screen is plugged up with carbon, that could cause a power loss.

Good call. I keep forgetting that one...

Forgot about the tranny fluid. But we had our free 50 hr service at about 90 hrs (we use this workhorse a lot). So that shouldn't be it.

I'll check the S/A screen today. I do check & clean the air filter regularly.

What's this pedal deal? I saw it mentioned when searching threads for other RTV stuff.

For the pedal, check out my last post (I think) in this thread. If you start to loose power, let off the pedal. The aux pump will kick in, engine RPM's increase and you should have plenty of power.

For testing purposes (and if it's safe to do so), remove the S/A altogether.

I wouldn't discount the tranny fluid but due to cost, save that for a last resort. A couple people have had power problems early on (less than 50 hours) but after changing the tranny fluid and filters the power came back.

Did a quick clean of the screen w/ some carb cleaner, then sat in the back while someone else drove around the property. On the larger hills, I smelled "burning". This was in Medium, with another adult up front with the driver.

I'll take it for a spin just by myself later.
