RTV losing power

Zio,

Could the burning have been the carb cleaner on the screen? Without the load of going up a hill, the exhaust at the tip/screen may not have been hot enough to get the carb cleaner cooking.

First I would check the air cleaner. Not enough air and it will not produce enough HP. That air intake is near all the road dust.

I have seen where the air intake is on the Mule. Its up in the roll over bars to get away fron all that dust. I looked at the Mule but the dealer was 50 miles and the RTV is 6.

I clean the air filter regularly. Isn't that a terrible place to put it?

I don't think it was the carb cleaner burning.

So far no one else here seems to notice it. It must be in my head. I do all the service on our cars & equipment, but for the next service I'll have the dealer come out. They gave us the first service for free, and are very concerned & eager to fix any issues their customers may have with the RTV's.

It not only made a big difference in how mine shifted in and out of gear, but I also picked up lost power when changing the hydro fluid and filter. I just did it for the 2nd time this week and I only have around 60 hours on mine. It made mine like new again.

If you are out of warranty, PM me.

Okay guys, thanks for the help. I've decided the power is there. It's just my seat-of-the-pantometer that's off. I did some light property maintenance the last week, and spent time paying attention to the power on hills, trying L vs. M, different throttle settings.... and I tried to not pay attention to what I heard.

I think it's the transmission that throws me maybe? It has a different working relationship with the engine compared to regular automatic transmissions, right? There's no gear change, but a contstantly variable ratio that can allow the engine to adjust rpm slowly, making it sound like you're slowing down when in fact you're not...?

I got my RTV almost 2 months ago and it now has 55 hours. I had a load of green liveoak wood on it and I couldn't get the rear wheels to spin. Had modify route some to get out.
I'll be changing tranny fluid and filters tomorrow. Hoping this will give it some life back. Will let you know.

What gear did you have it in? Many times if under a load if you have it in M or H the RTV seems as though it struggles. I then shift to L with no problems. However, as you stated with 55 hrs., changing tranny fluid could help.

I have had this problem when in Reverse. It doesn't seem to have the same power when backing up as it does in Low range.

I changed fluid and noticed that shifting improved, though that never was a big problem.
I had it in low range, both earlier and today when I re-tested.
Again, reverse and low would not spin the wheels with a load in the back and with rear end locked and in 4wd. This is a very steep hill, but so what, it should at least spin. Only way I could get it to spin was to run unlocked and out of 4wd. But then, I could not go anywhere.
I tried again after dumping the load. I could then spin the wheels.
I called by dealers service dept and will be taking it in next Wednesday. I also have had a BX25 for about 5 yrs, so I know them.
Dealer will also correct leaking fuel cap by replacing fuel tank and adjusting dif lock holder so it will hold. Lock requires pedal to be depressed to work.
Will let you know after next Wednesday.
