I remember all the posts (Dargo etc) about the shift lever being very difficult to get into/out of gear after stopping on a hill. Never noticed that problem on mine - until - last week when I installed the Kubota linkage that "minimizes" the "hydrostatic death stop". Getting used to that feeling, but immediately noticed the shifting in and out of gear issues when on a slope. Anyone else see a correlation?

JS,

There's a correlation all right.
You'll need to wait a few seconds before attempting to shift with the speed control assembly that you installed. Then, it may be necessary to apply the emergency brake before shifting.

I tried the assembly you just installed but honestly preferred the old style (and went back to it). With the new one, there was still the abrupt stop but you never knew when it was coming.

I believe you also have to change the position of the damper. I'm not in a position to look at mine now but if someone could post the correct position...I think the new style of speed control the damper is in the lower position. I'll try to find the thread.

Brian,
Do you know of any other adjustments to be made when shifting back to the original old, more abrupt stopping, style speed control to gain more top end speed? My top speed is still about 22-23mph, which is about 5mph less than yours.

Fred,

Refresh my memory. Did you start with the old style and go with the new? If so, and you didn't adjust any of the linkages, you can just put the old assembly in and flip the damper and you should be all set.

Brian,
I swithed to the "old" style and put the damper on top. When the dealer did the swap they left the damper in the lower position and I switched it back to the top when I got home. The dealer could have made some adjustment that I am not aware of. It wouldn't surprise me since they left the damper in it's original position when they made the swap. There has to be some adjustment to get my speed back.

Could you or someone post the correct upper and lower linkage adjustments with the accelerator depress and in neutral?

Have there been any other changes? Linkage, different tires...

Take a look at the attached pic. This is the NEW STYLE (no abrupt stop) so yours will be different. Can you confirm your bottom 2 linkage connections are the same? If the bottom 2 have been swapped, that would cause a reduction.

I was going to ask/suggest we both do that. Have a person step on the pedal and take a pic/measurement of where it is on the speed control assembly. I'll see if I can do that tonight or tomorrow.

Brian
