RTV900 cracked transmission?????????????

YIKES! Was washing my new (9hrs) girl today to get the salt off her when I noticed these cracks. I contacted dealer and they are picking it up Monday for inspection. No oil is leaking out now but it looks like fatigue cracks. May even be normal and that's why I'm posting this to see what you all think. And of course so you all can check your's out too.

I think last months issue of contractor magazine there was an article about a recall on the RTV's for that.

Thanks for the info. I actually just got back from Kubota dealer and wanted to check the other RTV's in the yard. Well I have to say that they are all like this. Correction- Not all but maybe these ones. I would like to hear other owners to see if theirs have the same crack appearance. The sales guy and the service guy mentioned the casts (molds) when making these cases leave these. What do you think?

I don't believe that I have any - I think I would have noticed something like that. But then again, something you see as a crack, I might be seeing as an artifact of the casting process. Can you take a photo and post so we all can see what it looks like?

On the left looks like a mold seam but the right crack sure looks like a stress crack and I think I would be concerned....

Yes you are correct. The one on the left is the mold seam but the right does appear to go even under the cooling fin where the pic doesn't really show. The problem that I have is that the other unit my dealer has in his showroom have the same (almost exact) cracks. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif There is NO oil going in and don't believe anything can get inside either but it still looks like a crack. When it was explained to me the appearance is from different metal cooling properties that make the mold which in turn cases the crack like appearance. But does not do anything to the strength of the tranny. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Again please RTV owners let me know if you have the same cracks so I can get this fixed.

Looks like shrinkage from when the casting was made. But it is hard to believe Kubota's quality control would miss it.

I checked mine last night. Only got to check for a few minutes but I didn't see anything unusual.
I specifically looked where your first pic showed and do not see anything.

Thanks guys. Hmmmmm. I dont' know what to do with this. It may be a common thing but to call it normal is not correct. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif My dealer did state that as of yet they have not had any RTV900's come in for any tranny repair except for drain plugs being cross threaded. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Let's hear from more owners thoughts too.
