RTV900 Glovebox for less $$$$

Thanks for the tip. I bought all the pieces and put it together, but the way I did it the box will only stay closed if it's locked. To open it you have to insert the key and turn it. Did I screw it up or is this just another example of vaunted Japanese technology at work?

ajdillon,

First, welcome to TBN.

Yes, it'll only stay closed when locked. To open, I don't bother unlocking. If I lift up on the lock assembly just a little bit (as that's all that is holding it), the door will open. Reverse the process to close.

A couple of us that put them in also re-enforced so it won't sag.

Now that you've joined, you have to tell us more. When did you get it, what accessories, what do you do with it.... Also, please put a location in your profile so we have a general idea of where you are. For some things, location matters (e.g. altitude, ground conditions, temperature ranges...)

Thanks, I'm glad it wasn't a problem with my installation. I picked up my RTV on the 20th of July. Recreational model. I justified it partially with my two or three hunting trips each year here in Texas and partially since I just bought 15 acres on Canyon Lake down near San Antonio. I figure my wife couldn't yell real loud if I told her it was to haul grandbabies around out at the lake. I debated long and hard between the RTV and the Rhino and I made a decision that I was less likely to get in trouble with something a little more ponderous and work oriented that with something faster and sportier.
I got it from the dealer with the Kubota bedliner, camo soft cab ($400 coupon from Kubota), 2 inch lift kit and a set of 27" Essex/Titan Surefoot tires. (Some of my hunting is in the piney woods of East Texas where the pine trees that get mowed down grow into tire killing punji sticks the locals call "staubs") I have since added the glove box and a Ramsey 3000 wireless winch. I have a bed tool box on order from FL_Cracker. Other goodies on order: MAD Dog/Stearns Gun Scabbard (strap hung from the ROPS, inside the cab, with two large pockets right where the head rests ought to be); oscillating 8 inch fan from J. C. Whitney (it's hot in Texas); and a rear view mirror and dome light from Curtis.
The difference between men and boys.....the price of our toys!

Andrew,

Sounds like you have a nice setup.
For the tires, you may want to consider "Slime" to assure any punctures won't give you a flat tire.

I haul my kids quite a bit so I put a 3rd seatbelt in for the middle of the bench seat.

Here is a good place to get accessories. I see you already got a gun rack but I've heard great praise about the one on the linked site.

If you haven't already done so, take a look through the past threads on the site. We've exchanged quite a bit of info on the RTV over the past year or so.

Thanks Brian, the Hunterworks people sold me my Ramsey Winch set up. I studied the **** out of this site before I bought my RTV. You guys were a big help. That's how I hooked up with FL_Cracker for the tool box. I forgot, I also have a set of rear work lights on order from Kubota.
