I have a Kubota M-5400 and a B-2910 plus a G-1800 riding mover which is orange too.
I am starting to use the RTV and am getting used to the technique of using the gears. I have a B-2910 with 3 speed HST, but I am usually snowblowing, so I don't notice the speed. When I went out and used the RTV in 4-wheel and 2-wheel and all 3 different speeds it seemed a little different. With my older kubota with gears and throttle it was clutch, shift and pedal or cruise control. With the RTV with a top speed of 25 mph it seems to have a style of its own that I will have to get the hang of. I noticed going up a slight hill it would slow down more than I would have thought. I am not sure if flooring the pedal is the same as the old style or being hydostatic it needs to be eased up slower. The dealer said I would get used to it and I am happy with the unit, but wondered if there were some tricks that weren't in the manual for using the RTV-900. It seems to act a little different than my B-2910, but I am usually going too slow blowing snow to notice speed. The RTV got up to 25 mph, but slows down fast when it hits a hill. Any help appreciated. Kenta

Yep, there are tricks that aren't in the manual.
For hills or under load, you want to avoid "flooring it".
If it starts to bog down, let off the pedal some. Without getting technical and quoting other references, here's what's going on.
There's an assist motor in the hydraulics of the RTV. If you let off the pedal some, this assist motor is activated which will cause a reduction in speed but a gain in power.

I used to try to climb steep hills by having the pedal to the floor and the RTV struggled. Now, I keep the pedal at about 50% and I can climb anything.

Brian,
Said it well, the foot feed is not an accelerator , it is instead a hydraulic actuator and as such needs to be treated as such!
The RTV900 does not lack for power if you drive the actuator rather then a throttle !!

Actually, Dean could have said it better but I thought it inappropriate to quote him from a different forum, but he's the person that gave me the info in my previous post. Thanks Dean!
