The pedal to engage both rear wheels is made for tiny little feet. My Rube Goldberg fix works to create space for my boot heel to engage the pedal without bending the dipstick.

Hmm, looks like the handymans secret weapon, duck tape.

If they don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy. :)

That's the perfect fix......but.......I would have used 'black' duct tape to match the 'black' handle on the front wheel drive engagement lever. :p :p :p :D

My Rube Goldberg fix ...

I'm sorry but Rube would never have stooped to duct tape. He'd have rigged a series of pulleys, whirlijigs, whatchamacallits and various other specialized components to come up with a work of art solution. Geniuses don't use duct tape, the rest of us do.

Laughing. Yup, reckon ya'll is right.

I grew up hearing the father and his friends talk about Rube Goldberging to fix something. It generally meant you fixed it anyway you could and it was not necessary right but it worked for the time being. Being that these guys were weekend warriors with carpentry, welding, military, electrical and mechanical aptitudes, they came up with some unique solutions to problems with tractors, vehicles, plows, wood splitters (they made a hydraulic wood splitter from scratch in the early 70's before you could buy one commercially and it still works better than the ones our neighbors have bought), and various other mechanical items. I always wished these average middle class guys could run the country because after a few beers, they always seemed to solve the problems of the world so well.

Now that I have done a search on Google and read who this guy actually is that my older mentors referred to, I do stand corrected.

By the way, under the tape is one of those charging units used to power up screwdrivers, cell phones and such. The picture does not show it well but there is a lever coming out of the back of the pedal and when pressure is applied to the pedal, the level moves up causing a small generator (also located under the tape) to send a surge of power to the charging unit. This in turn powers a recently installed steering wheel warmer. It does get a little tedious pumping that pedal with my heel to warm up the steering wheel but hey, it is a Rube Goldberg job.

I agree CBB, it's the average middle class guys that have made this a great country. They've fought the wars, ran the factories, invent out of necessity, built comfortable homes for their families, and raised their kids up right.
Your statement sure brought back memories of my dad.;)

I am sure if you put a pair of pack boots on you would find difficulty with the pedal and the placement. Cowboy boot heels would probably work just right though and the fix would not be required.
