I have a 27 ton "Wheel Horse" with a Honda lawn mower engine on it from Lowes. It's done everything I could ever want (and my neighbors too). But I would never think of using it to split wood to sell. It could do it but it would be like buying a B series Kubota when you have enough work for an M series. For $3k I would expect a wood splitter that's going to last a lot longer than a year and a half. It should include a name brand pump and cylinder and be built well. No poor welds and not structural weaknesses (even my $1k special has no problems handling the full pressure the ram can generate). I could see it not having a log lift or an adjustable wedge or maybe a smaller tank/ frame size. Those pictures posted on the first page show junk. I would feel ashamed if I sold something like that. That's like selling a car and when the user goes 65 mph on the interstate saying if was the driver's fault for using the car as expected when the tires fall off.
