Where do I begin.....
Starter pistol fires at 7AM. Paint will fly by mid day. Another track meet of a paint job is on tap. I've got 3 days to dismantle, prep, paint, and re-assemble my Massey Ferguson 150. I've got a big box of new parts, decals, bolts and nuts. 2 qts. Flint Grey Metalic, 2 qts. MF red, hardener for both, 12 cans laquer primer, 2-1/2 gallons enamel reducer, 8 rolls of masking tape, 40 (+) sheets of various grits of sandpaper, jitterbug sander, hand block sander, paint gun is clean, fresh air supply system, and shop exhaust fan is up and running. Shop is immaculately clean.

I'll take pictures at mid-day and end of the day until she's done.

Wish me luck!

I'm doing the same with my MF-135, but at a lot more leisurely pace.
The info on the Valspar paint can says thin the enamel with VM&P naptha.
You're using enamel reducer for thinning. Do you know what's in that stuff?

I've used Naptha a couple times. It's "hotter" than the enamel reducer I'm using this time. It evaporates at a faster rate. That can be good....that can be bad. In cool weather, it evaporates at a reasonable pace. In hot weather, it cures too quick. Paint doesn't get a chance to "flow", or lay down. You'll get more "orange peel" that way. Also, paint will look "dry", or less shine. The enamel reducer I'm using is rated for 60 to 70 degree, mid range humidity. (It's getting COLD outside here right now. Calling for 34* tomorrow morning) I have the shop heated, and won't have any trouble holding 70*.

Headed out to the shop as soon as the TV news goes off. I'm dreading getting started, but looking forward to getting done. (On vacation.....Done got L.A.Z.Y.... ;) )

Morning temps here in the North Valley these days range from 65-75F with 30-40% RH. I usually knock off work by noon. Looks like I should get some of that reducer stuff.

BTDT with my 135 last year, the painting was the easy part after all the cleaning etc. I also used the emamel reducer, worked good. I started out using Silver Mist on the wheel rims and hood wings but didn't like the results so went with all Flint Grey and MF Red, not authentic of course, the "purists" wouldn't like it, but i think it looks ok. Heres a pic........

A lot of work, but worth the effort. They just don't make 'em like that anymore. Your 135 looks great!

I tried AGCO O.E.M. "silver mist" for the wheels and grill parts. I didn't like it either. Then I tried the stuff TSC sells. I used their "silver" (NOT aluminum) It worked great, looks like what I recall my rims looking like back in '71, and is cheap compared to the AGCO stuff.

Between a sick puppy, cold weather, a lazy streak, and my wifes car developing an oil leak, looks like painting is out 'till next week now. Oh well.....

I have found that Rustoleum Hammered Silver works great on tractor wheels. It looks like they were re-galvinized, which is the way they should look. I have tried Alum. paint, silver paint, and none of them look as good as the Hammered silver. HTH, later, Nat

Better late than never so they say. FINALLY. The 150 got stripped down, prepped, and Flint Grey Metalic paint shot this afternoon. No camera in the shop while paint is flying. I may try to get a few pics tomorrow. I'll put the wheels, seat assembly, battery and alternator, and grill back on tomorrow. Then the tractor will have to sit in the barn while I prep and paint the sheet metal. That should get painted Wed. or Thursday. Back together Friday, Decals on Friday afternoon, then it'll be pulling a hay wagon for a church hayride Friday night and saturday night.

That isn't too tight of a schedule..... I have at least 5 minutes to spare in the next 4 days.
