Thanks guys for the complements. My son is 4 and thinks tractors are the coolest thing in the world. When he saw my new Kubota, he went nuts. As far as fuel additives. It cost me $14.00 to treat 75 gallons of fuel. In the grand scheme of a $15k tractor, it's a no brainer. My dealer said its good idea mainly for the poor quality of consumer Diesel fuel.

When I was in construction we just transitioned in the fall to a 50/50 mix of #1 & #2 diesel then ran straight #1 when temps got below 20 degrees. #1 flows throughout the winter and you give up a little less mileage due to the decrease in paraffin in the fuel. I would never leave any #2 in my tractor going into the winter regardless of any additive but I am old and set in my ways.:confused3:

Think about what it , why would one pour additives into your engine when you don't need them. Our fuels are cleaner now than ever before. Keep your tractor serviced , change oil and filters with good quality products . Use your machine for what it was built for, don't try to move mountains with it . It will give you years of service in return. I have done this with kubota tractors over twenty five years now . Save that money and purchase more implements . Good Luck ! PD Clinton

I would have to disagree that fuels are now cleaner than ever at least w/ gasoline.
If this were not true then why does a cup full of gasoline thrown on a fire look like a tire has been set on fire when 20 years ago it burnt soooo much clearer and how come it stinks straight out of the pump and now has a shelf life of less than 30 days.
Ever wonder where companies get rid of there toxic waste, ever wonder why we have catalytic converters on our vehicles.

I run Schaeffer's Diesel Treat 2000 Ultra, a gallon of it treats 2000 gallons of fuel, so for $47 a gallon, I will keep using it. It has made a difference in my truck for sure, tractor kind of hard to tell, don't check fuel consumption, on average, I only burn about 30 gallons a year. As far as the fuel being better today, that is a matter of opinion and fact/fiction and depends on your definition of better. Take a clean fuel station that takes care with their tanks, sure they have good fuel, but you take the Mom & Pop mart, well most likely the tank is not so good and neither is the fuel. To a degree fuel treatment can help with that, but not always. Diesel fuel now being mostly Ultra Low Sulpher is hard on the injectors due to the lubricity and carbon build up can be an issue. New engines don't have a lot of issues, but the injectors for the newer diesel engines have been changed due to this. Ask anyone that has an older tractor, and most likely they have had a fuel injection issue.

I didn't have to think about it at all when my diesel turned to gel during the winter months (yrs back) :) So to answer your post no additive, no run, that simple.

I have used Stanadyne Performance Formula Diesel Fuel Additive in all my diesels, each time I refuel I add. Never had a problem either way.
Same here. Standyne Performance at every fill up. I now have a 275 gal fuel storage tank and I treated the whole tank. Been doing this to my L3940 since I bought it new in 2007. No problems of any kind at any time of the year.:cool2:

I use Power Service in both my 2011 L3240 and 2008 F350. White for winter (anti-gel) and silver for summer (injector cleaner). I've always been told to buy fuel at the newest stations and stay away from the oldest because of possible tank contamination as they age.

I use power service year round.

I am from the mindset of preventative maintenance in all my toys. I run Stabil Ethanol in all my gas toys (ATV,Boat,Chainsaw,etc..) I have never had a fuel system problem by doing so and the cost is nominal.
Does anyone run a Diesel additive all year long??
