Running hydraulic lines for grapple

I got the grapple last week. I have a few more chores I need to get done before I can really test it out. I did play with it some the other day to make sure it works etc. I am interested in knowing (pics would be real nice) how you guys ran the hoses to allow for full range of motion. Mine are coming from the RR for now.

We run the hoses from the rear remote along the right side of the tractor zip tie to existing loader hoses and route up and along the loader frame to loader frame cross bar. We then hook into a Quick-Disconnect bulkhead mount with standard qd's mounted. From the grapple to the tractor normally 48" on CK tractors (KL130 Loader) and 54" on DK tractors (KL401) of hose to the quick disconnects. And you are done!

Couple notes: 1. When disconnecting grapple, relieve pressure by shutting off tractor and moving RR valve back and forth a couple times. This will make easier for you to disconnect and reconnect. 2. Always hook your Grapple Hoses together after use. This too will allow the oil to expand and contract inside hoses and not allow pressure to form at quick disconnects, which will make nearly impossible to hook up until pressure is released.

What is average cost to run a DK with a second RR with no detent, out the door, all fittings etc?

tpulley, I did the exact same thing as you are ready to do and since all of the FEL hydraulics on my tractor were on the right, I ran the grapple hydraulics on the left as it was totally free of hose clutter. If you want to read about it and see all the photos, open the "attachment" section of this forum, in the upper right of the page open "search this forum" and type in "FEL Grapple Bucket Installation". There are four posts to the complete installation dated 4/23, 24 and 25/2011. To date, I have had no repairs or alterations to the grapple's hydraulics. Yes, it is a blue tractor but other than the difference in color, the method of installation is all the same.

Thanks Tony. What is the "Quick-Disconnect bulkhead mount" ? Is this something you sell? Do you have a picture of one? Is this kind of like the disconnects for the FEL in the lower right of the dk45se I see?

I also want to say thanks to about the notes you posted, I had been relieving the pressure but hadn't thought/known to hook the two lines together. I will though.

What is the "Quick-Disconnect bulkhead mount" ?

Not meaning to jump La Voie, here is a photo on my tractor of what I think you are asking about.
A bulkhead mount is made up of two pieces:
The first being the bulkhead (wall). In my application the (3) are cut from 4"X4"X1/4" steel 90 degree angle plate.
The second being a hydraulic bulkhead fitting (compatible with your choice of QCs and hose diameters) that is placed in a bored hole in the angle iron bulkhead plate and screwed down with a provided hex nut.

The three bulkhead mounts that I have are at:

One at the FEL disconnect-straight through (not shown).
One at the FEL arm 90 degree turn.
One on the FEL crossbar 90 degree turn to the grapple.

Quick Disconnect - I sell three different ones.

W R Long Bulkhead Mount -
- contains weld on plate, one male & one female QD, 2 bulkhead unions
- any hydraulic shop can get you all fittings, you maybe able to make cheper yourself. i sell as courtesy to go along with W R Long Valve
- Hard to get hooked up if pressure on attachment hoses!

-contains two male and female fittings and mount bracket, thread size 1/2 NPTE, easy one handed connect and disconnect when clamp mounted, **must release valve pressure

-contains two male and female fittings and mount bracket, thread size 1/2 NPTE, easy one handed connect and disconnect when clamp mounted
- PRESSURE RELEASE INCLUDED - No awkard hooking up because of pressure on either piece. Also Higher flow for Hydraulic Auger drive on front loader (like skid steer!)

i added a six way selector valve on the loader with quik connects.Plumbed into loader lines and added a button on the joy stick to engage the valve..Very easy and dont have to run all those lines from the back of machine
