Running LEDS for Toolcat

For plug-n-play replacement LEDs without modifications, I went with four SeaLight 880 LEDs (straight connectors) for the front roof visor and two SeaLight 881 LEDs (90-degree connectors) for the rear roof. On these, the main bulb body is separated from the electrical connector with a short wire, so it fits easily even with the larger diameter finned heat dissipator (fanless). The heat dissipator sticks out the back more than OEM halogens, but there are no clearance issues even at the windshield wiper. The electrical connector and short wire can be tucked into existing visor wire holes on the front, but the rears might be a little more exposed to branches.

The description says they're 6000 lumens, but if you dig deep enough, that's total for the 2-bulb package. They're actually 3000 lumens each, about as high as I could find for a fanless bulb. Be careful, other brands mentioned in this post also state the 2-bulb total. Still, it's quite an improvement over the 1250 lumens for OEM halogens.

Miscellaneous comments: the 880s (straight connector) and 881s (90-degree connector) appear interchangeable but have different securing tabs at the electrical connector. There are other brands of the short cable style, just check the size of the heat dissipator. LEDS do burn hotter, it's easily felt in the heat dissipator. Most descriptions for lower wattage LEDs warn of CAN bus errors (throwing codes), but no issues yet for me (not even sure what a CAN bus is or if ToolCats have one). And might just be me, but the bright white 600k color temperature seems to wash out detail compared to the OEM halogens - see driveway gravel in attached comparison photos. Still worth it, though.

hi song dogger, around here the only ones I could find were the 90 degree ones, the straight ones here with the pigtail the back of the heatsink defiantly hit the wirer on 2 of 4, as for the white light loosing detail I agree they wash out the shadows, we had snow ll day yesterday and I can say in snow they are bright to the point too bright as they tend to reflect back but there is no way I would go back to the halogen ones

You can get version of the LED bulbs that don't have the 90deg connector so they are "plug n play" on the front lights: https://amzn.to/32O5mbB

Edit: Sorry, for some reason Song Dogger's post didn't show til after I replied. Similar answer, this is a 4 pack and advertised as 7000 lumens each.
