TC,

If you wish to send me some stuff via PM please do. Like I said it has been in the dealer at least three times and they tell me nothing is wrong. The thing that worries me and it shouldn't anymore is I did hear some horror stories if I can call them that about the GM's transfer case going bad before 60,000 miles due to excessive usage. Now it is only stories that I have heard, I don't have a friend or brother in law or father that has had problems. So I tend to worry to much. My burban now has 80K on it and probably time to get another one.

I've owned three Suburbans over the years; they were about the only thing out there that would hold my entire family when the kids were younger and all at home. The first one, I bought used and was a good truck until about 110,000 miles, when electrical problems started and the a/c compressor went. The next two I bought brand new from a large reputable dealer. Both had numerous problems (electrical, exhaust system, valve lifters, ball joints), most of which were cheerfully fixed under warranty but left me feeling that the trucks were undependable when the warranty expired at 36,000 miles. I finally gave up and traded the last one on a Toyota, since I'd had excellent luck with one of their little pickups bought used. 150,000 miles on the Land Cruiser so far, and not a thing done to it beyond regular maintenance and two batteries. It still runs like new. BTW It's full-time 4WD too.

Not trying to start a brand war, but that was my experience with GM and Toyota.

I sent you a message...

The only concern I would have worrying about the transfer case going south is if you plow snow with it...which I doubt you do with a Suburban. Other than that, they are pretty solidly built. I've seen many contractor trucks with over 200K miles on them and never any problems other than switch or encoder motor failures.

At work we had a surburban, and it started to kame a bit of noise at highway speed. took it in, and rear end (chunk) was shot. We traded it on a yukon, that I know own as I bought it from the company later that year. It has been a decent truck, except it did have a massive electrical failure earlier this year.. about 2k worth of stuff. Most of it was warranty repair.. but some of it wasnt.. ( about 300 out of my pocket ). Alternator, abs controller, computer-ems, and fuel sensor parts/fuel pump.

Dealer asked me if it had been hit by lightning.. I said.. heck no.. it quit while just driving down the road...
