Running tombstone welder on 5KW generator

/ Running tombstone welder on 5KW generator #31
Gave the 5KW generator / Hobart 235AC/160DC a workout this afternoon doing some finish up welding on my pipe pens. No problem at all with 3/32 6011 and 6013. Also tried 1/8 6013...also no problem. The only rods that gave me fits were 3/32 7018AC...lots of sticking.....had to keep the arc length just right to maintain the burn. Gots lots of practice with the 7018 as it was the primary rod I was using.

The generator will not power my welder to its full potential but for the occasional remote weld it seems to be up to the task.

Take a propane torch along for a preheat.
