I managed to rupture one of the hydraulic hoses on my 7308 loader today. See the attached picture for the hose in question.

Since my warranty has just recently expired, this will be a do-it-yourself repair. Is this as simple as remove the hose, put a new one on, and refill the hydraulic reservoir? Do I need to bleed the hydraulic system? If so, how?

Thanks . . .

And here's a closeup of the ruptured part of the hose. IMO, this is a poor design, as the hose clamp clearly cut into the hose and caused the weak point where the hose ultimately ruptured. Think I can make a good case to the dealer and get the replacement hose free of charge? Also, is there a better design out there for holding the hose to the loader cylinder?

Hose replacement is simple......even I can do it. I got one caught where it shouldn't have been and it got abraded really bad, in my opinion. I took it to NAPA (or your dealer) and in 10 mins. was on my way home. Install the new hose, cycle the loader up-down a few times, check the fluid. That's all there is to it. As to the claim to the dealer....all bets are off /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif but you can try.
By looking at the pics, I'd use zip ties, ty-wraps whatever to secure it back.

Why is there a hose clamp there at all? My 7308 doesn't have one, or need one that I can tell.

It's not a hose clamp, at least it's not on my 7308. It's a metal band that keeps the hose attached to the right lift arm. There's one on the left lift arm, too.

Mine is a real hose clamp, not a crimped metal band. It's purpose is to hold the hose in a plastic holder and then hold the plastic holder to the hydraulic cylinder.

I replaced the hose today as suggested, and it seems to work fine. Thanks for the advice.

( . . . the hose clamp clearly cut into the hose . . . )

Upon further inspection it was actually the loader arm which cut into the hose when the loader was fully extended in the 'up' position. Looks like the dealer installed the hose clamp a bit too far up/forward on the cylinder and when the cylinder was fully extended the loader arm cut into the hose.

Needless to say, when I replaced the hose I made sure that the clamp was a few inches lower/back on the cylinder.

I was wrong, it's a hose clamp on my 7308 with a wide stainless steel band. I checked underneath the arm, and there was the screw. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
