Ignore the last post I put it in the wrong thread. (duh)

We moved up to our property last spring. I did not want to lose the phone number I had had for personal and business purposes for many years. Ported the number to a cell. That is something you cannot do with a Land Line.

No land line here, too expensive. The cell reception is hit or miss, but hey, I sometimes think there's too much slavery to the thing anyhow. :D:D

I kicked my land line to the curb today.
Got annoyed at some BS charges that have been added to my bill for who knows how long. I have a pay as you go cell and find I'm using it more and more for long distance.

my only option for high speed internet is DSL

the only way to get DSL is to buy local phone service

by the time you add basic phone service to DSL service i could tack on unlimited long distance, caller id, voice mail bla bla bla for like another $20...

so thats what I do.

the check we write every month is a fuz over $100.

I pay about $10 a month for a cellphone which barely has coverage at my property (you kinda have to wander around the front yard looking for that sweet spot to get 2 bars). I use less than 100 min a month.
