Works very well on mild steel, and the depth of the reaction can be controlled.

There are a few places that have some rust tone power, I have been out of it for a few years now but will look to see if I still have some of their contact info. We built a lot of power coat ov ens and booths, (HAYNNCORP) Haynncorp - Industrial Finishing Solutions to see my old company, still friend with them like family. they still also do power coating at one of their locations I believe.

I think TIGER (powder coat supplier) had some and Sherwin Williams and PPG also were doing similar stuff from memory we used several places.

CHUPPS powder coating in Apple Creek Ohio is where I take stuff to now, we built their stuff & they have a good supply of wrinkle finished and the like as they make a lot of rot iron gates etc...

HAHAHA, yeah I buy from Tiger Drylac along with SW and TCI. Used some PPG but not much.

I've aged galvenized parts and raw steel to look rusted in a very short time. Use muriatic acid to clean the metal or a product called "Acid Magic". It is buffered and less toxic to you skin, but works just like muriatic acid. Costs about $10 at ACE Hardware stores. Once it is cleaned and washed off with water you can apply hydrogen peroxide (yes, the stuff in your medicine cabinet). It will produce a nice brown patina.

CAUTION!!!!!! Make sure that you stand upwind or use a good fan when using the muriatic acid. It can produce some nasty fumes when it foams up while cleaning the metal.

An update kitchen not finished but a couple of photos one showing the rusty steel panel dew to the problems mentioned earlier in the thread sealing the panels I have left them unsealed if they need cleaning they are removable and can be waterblasted outside and replace after they dry

If you use clear epoxy powder coat over the "rusted" panel, it will last the longest.

What I went for was to find an old steel tank that had been out in the weather for 50 odd years It was rusted through in places I cut the panels from places that had deep pitted rust not through the eight inch plate but almost. The plan is to try without sealing I prefer the finish as is but if it doesn't work out I can always clear coat them latter
