RV dump on old septic system

charlz, a larger cap than the pipe will automaticly let air out of your #2 pipe w/o blowing it off fwtw.

I use an old septic on my property when I cant find a dump station when I pull out of a camp spot and/or it didn't develop a leak on side of a dirt road somewhere along the way home.

I just lay the hose into it and let er rip no fancy hook up just open the lid plenty of air space its handy to have a water hose right there too. Btw dump black then gray in case they didnt mention that?

Most tanks around here are vented, if yours is, I wouldn't sweat it...We add bread yeast, seems to work well...

Closing the vent when not in use would be fine. It could stop a problem with animals and younguns. All the other info posted sounds like good advice.

We like to fill the commode to the top and dump it fast a few times if we still have water onboard when we dump. It really gives a blast to any remaining past actions.

The GD bacteria use before you use it is more important when an accidential leak on the side of a dirt road may occur and it is great for a septic tank dump too.

Yup agreed Gale, camping sometimes is a lot of improvisation at times and having a little knowledge ahead of a situation is helpful I think anyway.

I thank my RV friends for what wisdom they passed along when we became RV'ers. :thumbsup:
