Tractor
Kioti rx6010
Apparently something let go in the valve train trashing two cylinders and cracking the head.

Five years old but only around 450 hours and out of warranty.

Both dealer and myself contacted Kioti and they have determined to offer no help what so ever with the motor rebuild despite the ridiculously low hours and lite use the tractor has seen.

A replacement motor only carries a 1 year warranty I’m told so that’s not worth the cost IMO.

Tractor will be repaired at our expense and then traded or sold.

Very disappointing that Kioti offered no help whatsoever with the repairs. Not only have they lost a customer but they’ve gained an unhappy brand detractor.

That's very unfortunate. Sadly, no manufacturer is exempt from cranking out something that ends in premature failure (out of warranty). One reason why I try to really use something so that if it's going to break it's going to break during the warranty period. I've got 336 hours on my 2016; only real issue has been leaking rear axle casings and those were recently replaced under warranty (previously re-sealed; one started to leak after about 100 hrs).

I'd suggest trying to locate another dealer. Usually it is the dealer that is the only contact with Kioti. Dealers differ in their ability to be aggressive about making a customer whole: this is true with most things; I've read enough about some folks with a specific brand of car not getting a resolution from/thorough a dealer only to get resolution through another dealer. One reason why you don't want to be in a snarling match with your dealer: it only causes them to be less likely to go to bat for you- easy to turn around and say that the manufacture won't cover (when they really didn't try to find out- and keep THIS in mind, the dealer has to spend time and energy, and if something is out of warranty it's really not they're not obligated to put out any such extra effort).

I doubt you’ll find someone more laid-back and relaxed about an issue like this then myself. My dealer has been helpful and I have been appreciative of their efforts. I spoke with Kioti and they confirmed to me the dealer had complied with information request for a potential out of warranty claim and it had been reviewed and denied.

Of course no manufacturer has to help a customer with an out of warranty repair but given the incredibly low hours and the fact that if they even supplied repair parts at cost they would not have a disappointed brand detractor on the Internet.

They made their choice.

Well, the "choice" was dictated by their warranty terms. I still wouldn't count out the possibility of getting some sort of break/relief. It's possible, I like to think positive, that there's the chance that a smoking gun pointing at their manufacturing process might be found and that in exchange for them getting feedback on it they might give you a break in repair costs. Again, there's the up-front, stated policy, and then there's the actions associated on a per-"story" basis.

This is the first outright engine failure of a Kioti that I've read about (but I'm not necessarily the authority on data collection of such matters). These forums tend to be great for emphasizing failures (such as this being your first thread and posting- no mention when things were going well).

I would be good if you could follow up on whatever it is that is found. Having other examples to show Kioti (and dealers) is often helpful (if not for providing a sense that someone isn't alone in experiencing a painful issue).

In the video, where is the coolant leaking from? And what is the shiny part on the ground? What was the tractor doing when the failure occurred (e.g. idling, mowing, road travel, etc.). Did you/dealer open valve cover and (if so) what did you see? Except for the turbo, your engine is very similar to the engine in many of our CK/DK tractors. So I am sure many of us will be interested in what you discover in the tear-down and rebuild.

Also, assuming you still want to own a tractor, is there reason to believe that other brands are more reliable or provide better out-of-warranty support? This is a really screwy failure and I would expect the company would want to participate (like supplying parts) in the repair just so they can understand the failure mechanism.

That is the block heater it blew out.

Have you determined exactly what happened?

I'd really like to know how this happened as well. We can all learn a lot from this. Perhaps others with the rx6010 could save their machines should you find it's something preventable.

No to bombard you with questions in your time of mourning, but at the moment, what seems to have failed? Was anything unusual going on prior, what was the engine load at the time, what was your maint routine for oil changes? all that stuff.
