I have an S250 I lucked into in trade. It creeps forward when the sticks are brought to center...any quick tips on how to fix.

Also the drive chains appear to have a lot of slack in them. How are they tensioned. Does the motor and drive assemble slide forward to tighten them?

My understanding is the Bobcat drive chains are never adjusted. The chains are put on and the axles welded in place.

You should be able to lift the cab and see the linkages to the control sticks. You can probably make some adjustments there. I have never adjusted mine but there are some threaded rods ect that should allow some adjustment.

On older models like 763 they can be adjusted. I just don't remember how dad did it. Also I am not sure if the S250 will be the same.

I have seen bobcat ads that promote how their drive chains do not require adjusting and the axles are welded in place after the chains are on. I had an S300 K series that was that like that. I would guess the S250 would be the same. Don't ask me how a chain would ever be replaced. I believe the K series (2006 and on?) had heavier chains than the earlier series. Phone call to dealer with serial number may get you the correct answer.

creeping bobcats means the "pucks" in the linkages for the travel are work out and dont always return to center. they are not hard to replace, they are right on top of the pumps, under the cab. the linkages are also a two-peice design, with adjusting bolts in the middle. i would guess its the "pucks" what are worn out. i have changed many of them.

Hi I am new here but I did work at a bobcat dealership for seven years and have replaced a lot of drive chains. On your s250 if you raise your cab down the center of the chain case there will be three steel covers if you remove them you will be looking at the drive chains and sprockets in the center of the sprockets there will be a bolt remove it and the spocket will come off the axle shaft . The new chains will have a master link so they can be reinstalled. I would recomend replacing all of the axle seals wile you have it apart. You will need to lift the machine up and put it on Jack stands so you can pull the axles it will also be simpler to adjust the steering wile it is on the stands. Good luck I hope this helps
