Looking for a replacement tractor seat for my 1984 S470D Buck tractor. There are a staggering number of options out there, but very few if any would seem to be an exact fit or drop in replacement. I don't necessarily want to get a duplicate of the original, as there appear to be quite a few "generic" seats available with more features (adjustable backs, seat belts, front-back adjustments, etc).

The problem I am having is finding which ones will fit this tractor. The limiting factor would seem to be the width (side to side) of the seat. There is roughly 17" between the rear wheel fenders, which is like 1" smaller than many of the generic seats. Now they might fit, cause the fenders bend outwards as they go up and the seat will be up a bit. But short of getting one and trying it it's hard to say of these will work.

So thought before I end up ordering something which will not fit, I would ask here and see what people on the forum have used that worked. I don't mind fabricating some spacers or brackets, just would rather avoid having to ship back a bulk/heavy seat cause it won't work.

If you replaced your Buck seat with one of the generics, let us know which one you used and what spacers/brackets or mods you needed to make.

Thanks.

Many of the tractor seats sold on the market today look great and will last about 5 years. Reason being, sometime in 2010, the seat manufactures removed the UV protective additive to the seat skin materials.

Then the prices began to climb from $59 to nearly $225 for a really nice tall back seat.

I dug thru multiple seat makers and realized the only seats now with UV protection and can last well over 20 years are Marine seat.

At a local barn sale, I picked up a simple marine seat for $15. It is more durable than the common tractor seats and will out last them. Plus the padding is far better.

The seat even folds down to get out of the way or totally flips up for access under it!

If your Satoh machine is white/blue, then these seats would look great and more OE.

Or get the tall high-back,
