The same thing here in Michigan over the past few years. Deere just wants fewer dealers to deal with and have more control over everyting.

The dealer in Giddings was faced with the same option and they bought the dealership in Shiner (home of Shiner Bock yumyum). So for now, they have managed to keep their head off the chopping block.

Yes, it looks like the Sahara Desert around Giddings and while places less than 10 miles away are getting inches of rain, alas, none worth mentioning has fallen on my place.

I know that the dealership in Victoria was forewarned about this, and hindsight, it seems that Deere was strong arming them to sell to Shoppa's or some other entity that is willing to take on multiple dealerships. I guess time will tell who ends up putting a new dealership in Victoria.

I saw the same thing happen in Massachusetts to a dealership where we use to buy parts for the B when I was eight to eighteen years old. The dealership was there for more than 40 years that I knew of. When I got older and back in the area I use to travel 100 miles to buy from them, just a loyalty thing. It was sad to see. They are still doing maintenance but they are now selling another brand. Same thing happened to my New Hampshire dealer more reciently but the good news is they are still in John Deere business and with the same people. Unfortunately the economy caused the layoff of a good man (sad again) and I hope they will survive in this economy.

Deere bought the local dealership that was falling head first into bankruptcy. (bad investments). Surprisingly, still selling Kubotas.

Kyle, I hadn't heard that about Jaeger's buying a dealership in Shiner. Interesting.

Hope you do get some rain. My place in East Texas got rain but in Central Texas we're still dry, as you know.
