A main hydraulic line burst on the 12th, resulting in a large, highpressure fire.....

Total loss in just a few minutes.

I am sorry about the loss of your machine but am glad that is the only thing that was ruined and no one was injured (no one was hopefully?) or property burned (besides the machine which is easy to replace). Hopefully insurance is already on the ball to get you the replacement.

Insurance, yes. But, its a fairly new machine, and my agent is telling me i have a cash value policy. I have a feeling I may need some vaseline........

No one was injured, thank the lord.

Looks like you were also lucky that the entire woods did'nt go up in flames and make the 6:00 news.:p Now the fun starts with the insurance adjuster begins. Hopefully you had replacement value and not depreciated value because you may end up oweing more than what the machine is worth. Good luck.

Sorry for your loss. Sad to see a machine go like that.

Just a question, Ive noticed that these small mulchers seem to have lots of issues with fire (hydraulic or debris). Is built in fire suppression an option on these machines? Nobody seem to run them. Im surprised that it's not required by the forest service.

Glad to hear that you or anyone else was not hurt. Sorry to see such a catastrophic loss of your equipment... I'll bet that was quite a scramble to get out of there!!

Best of luck with the insurance crowd!

Ouch!!! glad to see you weren't hurt.

How many hours on the machine? I was just thinking that probably isn't a common hose to blow.

I saw the results of a similar fire in a Bobcat skidsteer last year. Oil line burst, sprayed oil on the hot turbo and instant meltdown.

Sorry to hear about the fire and the loss of your machine. I've been reading about excavators catching on fire, but this is the first skid steer fire that I've heard about.

When I bought my dozer, I was told by two people that they had seen them catch on fire, so one of the first things that I did was put a big fire extinguisher on it. Not sure if that would have helped, but the only thing worse then watching it burn would be to not have anything to at least try to fight it.

Good luck on the insurance.
