When I lived in Lovelock, NV. there was a dry lake bed outside of town. We'd go out there and get a hood off of an abandoned car and tie it with a long rope to the back of a car and ride it. It worked better in the winter on the ice, it was a little dusty during the summer.

As I kid wanted a toboggan but no money. My bros and I have ridden car hoods and metal signs. The 41 ford hood was the best. Use to take a metal sign 4'x7' and the guy in front would bend the front edge back and hold it. This worked well until you hit something. Then the sign would roll up and over and you would be siding on your face. Lot of fun.
