Safer in the City???

I would disagree based on my experience of city living.

There are plenty of things that can get you in the city.

Thankfully, I have good neighbors and this is half the battle... we do look out for each other.

Just this morning an elderly couple I know on a block where I use to live was the victim of a home invasion robbery... they are in their 80's and two intruders climbed in through a second story window after midnight.

It seems like something bad happens to people I know or at places I know all the time...

There is an entire subclass of people that prey on the old and week and it is becoming worse.

Those who would give away some freedom to secure some safety deserve neither, and will loose both.
Living in fear of harm is no life...

Sounds like a paper designed to get more hospitals/ERs built in rural areas since they only focused on injuries.

What about heart attacks and obesity caused deaths? Surely, the stress in the city injures and kills people. I know I was stressed out when I lived in a large city having to deal with horrible traffic and drug dealers living next door. The study does not deal with quality of life issues either, being a victim of crime, worrying about being a victim of crime, just being in crowds, etc. Those are injuries that do not show up in the ER.
