sales figures

I have been reading posts at various sites for quite some time now. With respect to everyones position, I am not sure I understand the intent of the original post. I have seriously been looking at the Mahnindra tractor as a possible purchase. Is Mahindra the wrong choice because of these numbers? Am I missing something?

I do not own any brand except for two older yanmar 18 hp tractors. I am in the process of looking at all brands but am really impressed with the mihindra brand. Seems like some dealers are much better than others. It is interesting that the original OP is posting here on the Mihindra fourm, is posting a partial stat on sales figures, does not sell the mahindra brand and does not include the same stats for the other major brands. What is the real motive? I don't know. Just saying

Messicks already carry three brands, Kubota, Case-IH and New Holland (granted CNH is the same parent company but still they count as two). Bringing on another brand would only involve spending more money, sending the guys to be trained for those specific models and also advertising another brand. How many brands do you think they should carry? I like Neil and know he wouldn't do this but for others who just look at a large company like Messicks who sells most of the major brands would be considered cornering the market if they took on the smaller brands as well (I use major and smaller just because its how I look at them and not to be confused with me saying Mahindra or any of the others are lesser brands).

That was actually the kind of awnser I was looking for. I am not a dealer so I was wondering if there was an advantage or not with picking up another brand. Especially a brand that if it keeps growing will be a major brand in the market. I was not trying to be a smart A## with my question. Just trying to learn what the major dealers look for and go through when they pick up a major brand.

On a side note, my 2516 comes tomorrow afternoon. I went back and forth for months because I wanted to stay with orange, but price and comparison said otherwise. The local dealer did not help the issue either but thats another story.

Maybe Neil was just sharing some information that he came across. How can anyone read into it anymore then that? There was nothing negative in his post.

Your use of "Maybe" contradicts. It is possible to read into it. There is negativity if you look at what is posted, the numbers.. A sales figure showing a decline in sales for a competitors brand posted in a competitors forum. I don't think there was anything wrong with the post itself but I also ask the question, why? Seems a little weird to drop into a competitor forum, drop some figures showing sales decline, short and sweet and your out. This is also from a dealer not an owner or general poster. I also don't see any posts by Messicks in any other forum about sales figures. A lot of people can take that either way but with so many fan boys on here and brand loyalty it can be taken certain ways without reading too far into it. Messicks isn't far from me here in PA and I've heard nothing but good stuff about them. I don't think it's wrong to question what the purpose or motive there was though. That certainly can be taken in many different ways. I know if am a dealer of Toyota, I dont just drop into a Ford forum to drop some declining sales numbers because i felt like it. Just saying.

I have to use the word "maybe" because I am not Neil. I also know there seems to always be posts or questions from members looking for sales figures and company rankings. Since sales figures seem almost impossible to come by for most of these companies I actually found it nice of Neil to even take the time to post the numbers for the Mahindra guys. I would think if his intent was to bash Mahindra he would have posted this in the general forum for all to see. He didn't, he posted it where the Mahindra owners would be able to see. Thats how I interpreted the original post at least.

Also, Neil posted a thread in the Cub Cadet forum mentioning a policy change Cub has about their base model lawn mowers. Again, it was posted directly in the forum that it should have been. The only people who would see it would be the guys looking in there.

Very fair statement. But this is EXACTLY what I'm talking about it. You got an orange guy interpreting one way and a soon to be maroon guy another way. That's why I don't think it's unfair to ask the motive regardless is there was any or not. Just thought that was a fair question. I know I don't look for sales figures for a bran I already own, only when Im comparing brands. It just think it's different coming from a dealer and is subject to more scrutiny. I imagine it's tough to be a dealer on here and have to walk on eggshells about what you say about what. Personally I don't care about sales figures. I care about quality not quantity. I'm here because as a consumer I felt I got more quality for the money right here than any other.

I would probably give Neil the benefit of a doubt. It just struck me as odd about the original post. I too have read nothing but good things about that dealership and would certainly shop there if it were close to me. Problem is too many choices.

I orginally posted this with some sarcasm. I look to the Mahindra Buying / Pricing forum for information that would assist me in a buying decision. That's just me. Then I thought if I was a dealer of any brand would I post a decline in sales figures about another brand on another site. I would if I were looking to advise the consumers that because of the decline in sales from last year, this would mean better 'incentives' on that brand this year. Then, he is an awesome dealer.

The thing is the sales numbers have not declined. Go to MahindraUSA.com and check out the stats. I just talked to my dealer. The only thing that seems to be holding Mahindra back is the lack of dealerships scattered everywhere. They are working on that. I know there is 1 possibly two opening up near me with the next year. If you are going to post something. Post all the facts, not just a piece of it.

Also, I would like a dealer that carries all of the brands. It would make it easier to pull the machines side by side and compare them all. Even drive them all. Like vehicle shopping, you seem to always have a salesman thats not worth a darn and you need to research the questions for yourself.

Neil is a well regarded dealer, a good communicator, gives great service and sells things at a fair price. All good. But for some unknown reason, he has a burr under his saddle about Mahindra. He takes a poke at Mahindra sales numbers whenever he sees something that could be considered a negative. This happens a time or two a year. Each time, I ask him to get the Kubota numbers for the same time period in the same HP range and let us look at them side by side. He then evades or avoids the question, or says he can't get the information. I'm a single store Mahindra dealer and I can get the numbers for Mahindra. A large multistore complex like Messick's can surely get info from Kubota. But to be clear, we will ask again:

Neil, during the same period of time quoted in the article where Mahindra sold 205,810 units, how many tractors did Kubota sell worldwide? :D

Other than that, it seems like Neil's contributions to the board are all positive and valuable. Well, maybe his Mahindra contributions are valuable as well!
