to the person who asked how many people write stuff on their ik filters:

Many oil filters are black and tough to write on. I have always written any dates/miles changed on masking tape and stuck it on the air filter housing, on my cars anyway.

On the tractor, I take a fine magic marker and write it on the inside of the hood. That way there's never a doubt about what's been done and when.

Solution: paint pen other than black. I always carry one in my pocket, along with a black sharpie marker, and retractable ball point pen.

I always have brake cleaner spray around too, quick shot of that on a rag wipes off any oil or grease, then paint pen writes the date and mileage or hours on the filter.

I was pointing out that insurance issues of the past generations are much larger for the current generations. Lawyers today and healthcare costs are exponential compared to cost of living standards.

And with ever more people and ever more closeness of contact . . heath concerns have grown a lot. Take Zika as an example . . It's already become bigger in the U.S. than the experts predicted 12 weeks ago. And it us likely to be exponential again by the time Autumn comes. Our parents never had to worry about Zika . . bu we will.

So true, to be without appropriate coverage is a recipe for disaster, unless you are into the government taking care of you. Unfortunately that is more and more the case. Luck is not a plan. Costs are increasing more and more every day, one concern we are having now in property insurance is the much higher cost of reconstruction vs. what people think reconstruction would be. It has gone up quite a bit over what it has been over the last several years. Perhaps labor and material being in shorter supply due to more construction has driven the cost up. Can't say for sure yet however. It's going to leave some people under covered and very unhappy when they can't replace their "stuff". And unhappy with us for insisting on higher coverage, the old "you are just trying to get more money out of me" meme kicks in.
