I do not eat POOP ! at least with Shirmp ( from the Ga. coast bought off the boat ) you can clean the vein out...not so with Sardines...Eat up boys...LOL

I only eat the ones packed in water, much healthier. And the best thing is, they are better preserved, so you can disect them and see what they had been eating. Pretty cool finding a fish inside a fish! Then you get to eat fish poop inside a fish that is inside another fish with even more fish poop! :laughing:

Exactly my point - Use 2 of your five senses...Open a can of Sardines and your sense of sight tells you there is a row of little ugly dead fish....OK then use your sense of smell and it tells you these little dead fish are full of POOP and that is why they stink and that is why your wives or co workers go Uggg ! when you open a can. Just think what those canneries must look like inside ? Talk about not wanting to watch sausage made...Uggg ! What about uncleaned dead fish. There should be a new group formed to help Sardine eaters kick the habit...:licking:

OK - I'll fess up...I have had fun with you fellas but here is the truth..I love Sardines but my Mrs. will not let me open a can in the house..they do smell, but here is the good news..I go to Wal Mart and they have - Crown Prince - Kipper Snacks ( naturally smoked ) and they taste just like smoked fish or even smoked oysters..they are really good. 190 calories Total fat 13 g and that is the omega 3 kind..good for you ..No Carbs, and Sodium is 390 mg - they come from Canada and are wild caught..Yum as Bird says...:laughing::licking::thumbsup:

Many, many years ago when I carried my lunch, working nights, I alternated between a wide mouth vacuum bottle of soup, sardines, or kippers. I liked them all, but thought the kippers were a little firmer texture that I liked. And then I read somewhere that kippers and scrambled eggs were a popular British breakfast, so I had to try that. And as far as I'm concerned that ruined both the kippers and the eggs. But the last time I bought any kippers, they weren't bad, but I didn't like them as wel as the sardines.

Yeah you are right Bird, at least the smoked Kippers are really smoked and you have to wait and have them for when you really have a craving for that smoked taste since they are rich tasting as well. I have tried Sardines with other things but I like them with just saltines, onion and Jalapeno peppers and black pepper on the sardines also with a little vinegar on the sardines...YUM !:licking:

Well, after you eat them they just turn to poop anyway. Some parts just have a head start in the digestive system.

I normally do not go to the grocery store but went into one today, after being at the dentist for a teeth cleaning, to check out the sardines. I remember being able to buy them 3 or 4 tins per dollar. They are now 3 tins for $4.00 No wonder the wife spends so much for groceries. Kind of scary when you spend less at the dentist than at the grocery store. :confused2:
