You wouldn't want to try that move with any of the snakes we have, these are not my photos, but I have seen all of these snakes on our land. I don't hang around to take pictures.

Taipans are large (up to 3 meters in length), fast, highly venomous Australian snakes, one of which, the Fierce Snake, has the most toxic venom of any land species worldwide

The eastern brown is less toxic, its the second most toxic land snake in the world  . They can be very fast moving and highly aggressive. When agitated, they will hold their necks high, appearing in a somewhat upright S-shape. The snake will occasionally chase an aggressor and strike at it repeatedly

The red bellied black is our friend. Although its a venomous snake, it tends to be shy, and eats the other more venomous snakes :) , you still don't want to step on one though.

 LOL... you remind me of my daughter-in-law... who is from Brazil. Whenever I mention how tough and mean the critters are in Texas, she has a soft response.
Mention snakes... she points out that anacondas eat people
That's just a sample... seems that no matter what I mention, she knows of a critter that is meaner...

I think a 10 lb bass is a monster.... those are "baby fish" in Brazil..

LOL - Thanks for clarifying which was the snake and which was the rule.. At first I thought that it was one of those rare, and hardly ever photographed 'equally segmented yellow auto retracting' snakes i read about on the internet once... ;-)

Finally got to where I can upload photos... all shot in my new shop with the circuit breaker reset... I used my phone camera, am impressed with the way they came out... bare concrete, hard for a snake to hide:D

Yellow thing is ruler... snake is next to it.

I guess that I'm kinda like your dad, jinman, I figured he'd be gone by the time I got to my arsenal, or even to a longer handled tool... so... I went with what was available.

:D there's a good lookin' pair of boots layin' there.:D My wife has seen one at our place - and the neighbor says to watch out for 'em ... but I must be blind - haven't seen one yet. Afraid to see one ... and afraid to NOT see one.

Just to clarify for all who may be wondering... I'm not a snake hater... I just think that if a poisonous one is located in an area where it might get an unsuspecting human or one of my cattle, then it needs to go. I don't go looking for them. And, I CAN identify the bad ones for this area (rattle snake is only one I've seen on the place in 20+ years, coral, cottonmouth, coperhead) and let ALL the others go on their merry way.

We have black snakes that live in our stone house and I welcome them as friends because they eat mice and rats. Several years ago there was one laying on the chair rail in an upstairs bedroom, about four feet long, and I did remove him from the house because my wife hates snakes. I also don't appreciate them getting in my quail and pigeon coops but just about anywhere else they are left alone. Fortunately we don't have rattlers and very few copperheads.

I remember reading that untrained man is able to hit (punch) with fist faster than any snake can attack. Well, I didnt and dont want to test it, but what is the speed of a rattle snake anyway?

I know from Karate classes I tought for many years, that the speed of the punch can be greatly improved with just basic training.

My best snake getting device has proved to be the full size Hoe...

Seems about the level of equality that I want to have in a fight. Backhoe vs. snake.

And I tend not to get close enough to identify anything past "SNAKE"
