If you have a loader on with no rear ballast, you'll notice it in the steering.

I notice it every time I run the Beaver because I am used to the JD with power steering.

My mower is in central PA... this seems an impediment to anybody who has been interested in it. :(

I would love to get a little JD 855 or 955 but right now this little Beaver seems to be in the budget for this summers chores.

Hey techwrtr2, I tried sending you some messages on your mower. If you can, send me some pics of the mower and price. I know a guy that heads to PA every know and then. If I could find it a ride to IL I would be interested.

Thanks!

Our Beaver has served us extremely well over the years. If yours is in good shape and you take care of it, it will serve you well.

Also interested in your mower. I live in western pa and get out to harrisburg 2 to 3 times a year. Price and pics would be great.

If anyone knows of a front end loader (cheap) in any condition that would fit a Satoh Beaver feel free to send me a message. Thanks.

Probably not going to happen... Most of the Satoh tillers are meant for a CCW pto that is only common to the Kubota b6000. Everything else is CW rotation. Sell it to one of us...

The transmission problem you are describing is caused by the coupling that joins the transmission to the clutch shaft. It allows the shaft to shift forward and ride on the pilot bearing. After a few years of this wear, the pilot bearing will be destroyed and allow the transmission shaft to slide far enough forward to grind on the flywheel. This will cause the clutch to act as if it is not releasing fully when you depress the clutch pedal. The shaft will eventually wear into the flywheel enough to allow the coupling to the transmission to disengage, which immobilizes the tractor. That's what I found when I broke mine in half.
