Satoh Beaver transmission problems

Tractor stalled, once I cranked it again it would make a grinding noise and stall again when I released the clutch. This happens through all gears including neutral. The pto will not turn either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Tractor can be pushed or pulled in neutral though. However, I'm not actually sure it is not in high gear.

Trans maybe stuck between gears or two gears at once? Maybe some random movement of the shift lever(s) while stalled? Output from trans could still be free.
Or, PTO is partially engaged an stuck in that position. Sound like you'll have to remove some gearcase covers if you can't free it by shifting normally. Good luck.

Check to make sure your high/low selector is in one or the other. I often kick mine while getting off the tractor so that is between the 2 and therefore nothing happens when I try to engage a gear.

If not the case, remove the cover and manually put all the shifter forks in neutral and re-assemble as that is very possibly a case of wear or accidental forcing past the slots. If wear si the problem you can often slightly bend the shifter back to position. (gently)
