Plugged fuel filter? You say it is good since it runs, but it might be straining to get fuel through it and only the choke and when WOT can force it to suck hard enough. How long since the filter was changed?

Maybe some small debris was in the fuel
that was sucked in when it ‘ran out’ of gas or was almost out that had been floating around..

So finally lifting some things. Pulled the filter off and stuffed the fuel line back in the tank. Gave her a couple yanks and she ran like she used to. Cant judge the filter by looking at it.

Chainsaw fuel filters looks can be misleading as can be. When my saws were in constant use I rarely had a fuel filter problem. Saws that sit, even with fuel additives can get funky.

I keep an assortment of wire pieces with a hook on the end. I have a huge assortment of saws, blowpaks, etc. I fish in there with the hook, gently pull the hose and filter out, secure the HOSE with a string or hemostat. Then pull the filter out, toss it away or take it into fresh gas, soak it and blow it out with your air gun. That usually does it. Just make sure you get all the straight gass out of it when you put it back together.
