Saw help

The quality of aftermarket cylinders range from not bad to complete horror show with nasty ports and bad port timing. Before buying I'd research who makes good cylinders for your saw. arborsite's chainsaw forum is one place for that.

There's an OEM kit on Ebay. Is there any way to check the seals?

First I would check the obvious like others have said, loose carb, impulse line, then have a pressure/vacuum test done. The entire crankcase should be air tight to operate correctly. You plug the intake and exhaust and subject the case with P/V and it should hold. If not, a case leak, seal leak would show up.

Carb is tight and impulse line looks good as does everything else.

Stuff can look good and still leak air. Sometimes there's oil residue around a leaking crank seal that gives it away. High idle and needing the choke to start are classic air leak symptoms. While it may run WFO with an air leak it's running lean... often lean enough to seize the piston.

My Husqvarna 365 is 21 years old. Always been good till now. Cutting some trees for a customer when it ran out of fuel. Filled it went to finish and saw would only run wide open, if it tries to idle it dies. Have to choke to start and same thing. Tried different gas no change. Obviously it gets fuel or it wouldn't run wide open. So filter is good. When you return to idle it sounds like a saw does when it runs out of fuel. Is it sucking air?
Any suggestions. I hate to take it to a shop.
happening that quickly, and just by refilling the fuel, makes it most likely the carburetor got clogged!..

Piece of crap on the low screw channel?

Plugged fuel filter? You say it is good since it runs, but it might be straining to get fuel through it and only the choke and when WOT can force it to suck hard enough. How long since the filter was changed?
