Even at 65, he puts on a great show. He did a 90-minute set... plus about an hour for the opening band and 30 mins of wire juggling between them (oops)... overall, a great show filled with lots of memorable things.

Waited 2.5 hours at the door (was first in line) before the show started... sat in the third row behind the Chicago White Sox and their wives.

A few weeks ago, Willie Nelson played about an hour south of here, but I couldn't get tickets... sold out.

So... any Hag fans here? /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Well… isn’t that interesting… what other surprises have ya got…? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I’ve seen Willie’s shows a time or two… but ‘ole Merle never made it up in my neck of the woods…(that I’m aware of?)

So… I just know you audio taped that show and took lots of pictures… I’ll swap ya a live Willie tape for a Merle - Okie from Muskogee… /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Was the show in TUS or PHX?
Now that you have been in TUS for a year, how do you like it?

Here in Tucson. Hall of about 1,000 people... sounded like about 10,000 though. Intense fans. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I've been here about 8 months now, and would say that it's been quite pleasant, and a bit different in a few ways. Not quite as sunny and warm for the past two months, but I'm sure the summer will make up for it.

It's a nice town with a decent mix of people... lots of students, lots of retired people, and the usual mix in the middle. A bunch of different parts of town that have totally different feels... some new, some old, some safe, some not so safe. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Adjusting well...

My wife’s family is from Tucson, on the NW side, Tucson Mountain foothills off of Silverbell.
We really enjoy the 4th Ave Fair, Tubac, and the beautiful desert.
Not sure if I can handle the summers so will be interested to hear of your experiences.

Well I got here right at the end of July, so we had about two months of summer heat... and make no mistake, it's hot (especially coming from NY). But you learn to live with it. Have to wear short sleeves and light colors, cotton, etc. keeping your car under shelter is ideal, because the inside will get incredibly hot (don't touch the seat belt buckle!)... if you park it anywhere, it takes about 30 seconds to get hot again.

But that said, most of the year is San Diego-like... with about a month of jacket-wearing weather.

So far the best time was October/November.

I live on the NE side... work on East Broadway.

Would still like to have you host a TBN affair in Tucson during the winter. Get to meet other TBNers, you and your staff and talk shop.
There will be many who would love to help you.

I've seen Merle quite a few times. The last time we were at one of his shows we ended up on stage with him. He was singing away and we had gotten up to dance in front of the stage he was playing on. Well the security guys got upset and grabbed my wife rather harshly. Before I could do anything he quit playing and told those guys off in no uncertain terms!! The one security guard argued with him and he walked off the stage. They convinced him to come back out and he did only if the security people all left. He invited us up on stage to dance with him and his backup singers. It was a pretty interesting night to say the least.

Wow, that's great! He does seem the type to speak his mind. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
