Saw and killed my first snake of year last night. It was dark out as I was coming in on my driveway, and I saw it coming out of the grass, and onto the gravel drive. I ran it over, backed up and did it again, and then again to make sure!!!

Eddie, I know I'm going to jinx myself by saying this, but I've never seen a copperhead on my place even though I've heard of hundreds of them around the area. I've seen little rattlers and moccasins, but yet to see a copperhead. You and TxDon have enough for all of us. He also has coral snakes and I've only seen one of those in the wild in my entire life.
This is a dangerous time of year when those copperheads will be coming out onto the gravel drive or onto concrete pads for warmth at night. You always have to keep your guard up and a sharp eye out for them.
That's the third copper head that I've killed in that part of the driveway over the past four years. All three where within a hundred feet of each other. I think I might have to put a copperhead crossing sign up!!!!
I've killed a few cottonmouth snakes, but killed more rat snakes because they are snakes and I'm not going to look close enough to identify them when they ar alive. Im told that there are rattle snakes in the area, and met locals to claim to have seen them over the years, but I haven't seen on here since I've lived here.
In the 6 1/2 years that I've owned the land, I've seen 6 copperheads and killed five of them. One was too fast for me when I was on the dozer and it got away.
