Although I did get a groundhog once that ran under a barn door laying in the field. I ran up on the door and crushed it.

Now you have me very scared! My 3830 doesn't have a cab. :-( I better figure out something quick, I'll be mowing soon.... But I think they live up in the hillside somewhere.

Guy down the road uses Maremma sheep dogs to guard his goats against feral dogs and foxes. When they are young you put them in with the stock and leave them there. Visit them to drop off some food and thats it? They live in with the stock as part of the herd and protect it. I suspect you'd have to socialise them a bit with humans but that wouldn't be hard.

They look a bit like a large shaggy retriever. I'm sure if you did a web search you'd find loads of info on them.
