Hey JohnThomas,

If, if one can do OK by trading, and often this is a result of dealing with a certain subset of dealers over and over, building a relationship whereby the margins are smallers, then trading can be less painful and more efficient.

Still, I beat my trade-in quotes by yes, Barlows and a local dealer by $1500 on my BX1860. In fact, Brady Barlow encouraged me to list it and get more money.

Selling outright isn't for everyone, if it were, there would be no used inventory at dealerships. But, for those who can do it and don't mind doing it, there is money to be pocketed. I've not traded in anything, by way of car, boat, or now tractor in many, many years. i always get a trade in appraisal and I always go home and sell it myself for mucho dollars more.

I agree in fact I sold my last 'Bota for $3500 more than (real) trade in. Of course with cars they always pretend they give you lots for trade in but you could negotiate them down on the value of the car without the trade. It is two seperate transactions - They are buying one piece of machinery and then selling you a different one. On the buyers side we tend to see it as one transaction but they see it as two. In fact the dealer would give you the same for your piece of machinery whether or not you were buying the new one.

I've decided today I need/want a 4 wheeler and started my search and quickly found out I need/want a RTV like Kubotas or Polaris or Kawasaki. The hunt is on and officially started today. I am hunting the best deal for the money so I'll have to go see Barlows after I get some ducks in a row to see if I'll actually pay the price for one and whether to go barely used or new considering cost and cost of financing. I do have a 2003 or 2004 electric Club Car to trade in if I can find someone willing to take one in trade.

You will find a world of uses for a UTV/RUV. My wife and I bought our Rhino in 06 and our ATV's just sit around gathering dust most of the year.
