SC 2400 Will not turnover

But it does prime. Any suggestions?

A bit of background... 130 hours on the machine; did the 100 hour maintenance, but nothing much since.

Immediately prior to this problem, I was working with the front end loader earlier in the day (turning over the compost pile). Parked it, then returned later in the day to no response to the key turned to the start position. Two lights illuminate (battery light & engine oil lights) when the key is turned to the ON position (just as they should), and the fuel pump primes (just as it should).

But, when key is turned further to the START position the PREHEAT light illuminates (just as it should)..... and nothing. The engine does not turnover.

It's acting as if the Brake Pedal is not depressed, but it is.

Once again, any suggestions?

Spring is here in Northeast Washington! My 5 acres needs tending (along with my soul)... HELP!

Push a bit harder on the brake lever. Sometimes the switch is off just a fraction, enuff for it not to start.......good luck!

Problem Solved.

After lying on the ground to disconnect the Brake Lever Safety Switch and being mauled by the dogs while down there, I cranked my neck and noticed the Starter tucked behind the exhaust pipe. After look a bit closer, I noticed the Green Plug to the Starter was disconnected.

Plugged it back in and it's all good!

But while down there and having the safety switch disconnected, I thought I'd diagnose the Normally Open/Normally Closed status of Brake Pedal Safety Switch. It is Normally Open, meaning pressing the Brake Pedal will close the circuit. As a result, it is possible to bypass this switch.

Considering the reported failure rate, and the design of the tractor (hydrostatic tranny) I may do just that.

Now, I would never bypass the Operator Seat Safety Switch - there's too much value in its purpose.
