anybody have some recommendations for a COLD WEATHER hyd./trans oil for the 2400? dealer says "universal tractor fluid", that's like telling me my car takes "universal car oil", thanks, may the force be with you

mine recomends the cc synthetic blend fluid
and here in ND we get cold
its some spendy stuff
also he said CC-YM does not recomend a full synthetic
but then whats $100. worth of fluid on a $20,000. unit

I have been told if I leave my front loader on, and put a 60" finish mower on the back, it should be no problem and weight would not be an issue. However, I was told that some of the 60" finish mowers can be pretty heavy and I should try to find one that is not too heavy. That is why I have asked here to see what others have done in that regard. I am curious to find out what brands/models of pull behind mowers people have had success with on these tractors. I also wonder if a 72" is going to be too big or heavy. I can find plenty of 72" finish mowers in my area, but not too many 60". I just don't want to go out and get something that for whatever reason does not work behind my new sc2400.

I don't have a 2400 but it's predecessor, the 5234. I really think a 72" would be too much for a subcompact.....and what you heard is exactly true, a loader is perfect for counterweight for a rear mower, and mower weights vary quite a bit, don't want to go too heavy.

I bought the snow blower last May in Bemidji, I paid 1900 for the blower and 440 for the linkage unit.

Can't you get a set of gator blades and fabricate a plastic cover for the discharge outlet? I'm thinking that would work...?

Not sure if this would work as the deck is not set up to mulch. I always thought there would be a different configuration under the deck to allow for mulching. I may be wrong and hope I am. If someone has done this before on a mid mount deck and it worked, let me know.

Id try just blocking the discharge and trying first
it sure seems like the deck has a ton of suction the way it is go across a bare spot in the grass and the amount of dust it pulls up is amazing

I saw on a previous message that somebody put an actuator on the snowblower chute, are there plans or instructions with the actual parts/models numbers? Also, I don't have the hydraulics on the chute, worth it?

The HRK45 Hydraulic Chute Rotator has a $629.00 List price but if your going to keep the Tractor for 20 years then it ends up being about $32.00 per year! That's if you pay list price.

the hydralics chute rotator is definetly worth it

the original control is really a rinkydink thing

have put an actuator on for the chute up and down on mine not sure I think it is a 5inch that I used wasn't very hard to figure out
dont have the blower at home yet have just used the loader and backblade for the first two snows here although it may get hauled in and installed this weekend they are saying we might get between 8" to a foot

I sat on one at the farm science review when it was going on. It is identical to the regular ol 2400 only with the backhoe on the back and the fancy seat that lifts up and turns around for backhoe use. I demo'd a regular sc2400 TLD at my local dealer about a month and a half ago. I'd say, if you like the 2400, you'll like the 2450. It's literally the same tractor. Same specs... same everything. The only differences are the seat and backhoe. The 3pt hitch is an optional feature on the 2450.

Here ya go, beyond the spin around seat there are mechanical and cosmetic differences also. Grill guard is standard but three point is optional.

Looks like it has more clearance mid-tractor than my 5000 series, and more clearance under the backhoe than my 7500 series.....which always bothers me, especially loading on a trailer.
I don't know why they can't procure a seat that is the same dimension back and bottom, and the seat just flips over with the pull of a pin....sure sounds simpler than a swing-around seat.
3-pt optional?? Come on Cub.....
Anyone know what the package list for?

Test drove one today. Very nice unit. Give me side by side directional controls and a temp gauge and it would be perfect. Dealer quoted me 19,500 for it.

My 2010 SC2450 was delivered to my house last Friday. Having owned a 1994 Cub Cadet 2084 Super Garden tractor previously, this little guy is a God send.

My only hands-on experience was with a SC2400 tractor at a county fair here in North East Wisconsin. The salesman told me what came on the SC2450 and told me what the prices would be for the options that I wanted.

Last Saturday I played with the front loader and back hoe. It's going to be a challenge for me to get the controls down, but it will come.

The "only" three items I do not care for on this unit is the area for filling the tank and the angle at which the nozzle sits. Fuel filling is in the cab to the left of the center "console". It's difficult to fill the tank because the angle of the fill spout. I will have to get a flexible funnel to ease the filling. The other item is really a very "bad" design...this being the rear window. When sitting in the seat and turning around to look out the back, all you will see is vinyl. The "glassine" is not high enough. It's almost like the removable window was installed upside down. I told my salesman that I wanted to talk to the re regarding this rear window design. I'm thinking about taking it to an upholstery shop and having them extend the "glassine" further up.

Short of these three items, I think the SC2450 is a great unit. Small, yet versatile. I'm sure there are more experienced small tractor owners on this site, but this is my first experience and I'm quite happy.

Price wise...well compared to my 2084 with the only options being a 2-stage snow blower, rear wheel weights, suitcase weights with rack, semi steel cab, windshield wiper...it came in at $8400. The options I got with the SC2450 were steel cab (and it IS an awesome cab compared with the last cab I had), in cab heater, cab top work lights, front hitch, 45" 2-stage snowblower, hydraulic chute control...brought the cost of this unit to about $25,000. A lot of money, but in my opinion...a lot of tractor.

Has anyone hooked up halogen work lights on their ROPS. I would like to direct some additional light when I start moving snow. I am going to start with the bucket this year as this is the excuse I gave my wife for getting it.
